NOTE : You must show you working

A palindrome is a number that is the same when read forwards and backwards, such as 81218 , 414, 989, 12321, 141... and so on.
How many positive 3-digit palindromes are multiples of 3?
This is a problem that middle school students (equivalent to JSS in Nigeria) are supposed to be able to solve.

You must show your working, don't just come and drop answer.
First to solve it should drop he's or her account number

From your definition, a palindrome is a number that is the same whether read backwards or forward.

Also, a multiple of a number is a number that divides it without remainder.

Multiples of 3 that are three-digit are:

111
222
333
444
555
666
777
888
999
Those are the palindromes that are three digits and multiple of three. I got it by using calculator.

My account details are Opay 8143909914 Nwachukwu Akudo

I hope I got it right.

To find the number of positive 3-digit palindromes that are multiples of 3, we can break this problem into a few steps:

Step 1: Identify 3-digit palindromes
A 3-digit palindrome is a number that reads the same forwards and backwards. These numbers have the form "ABA," where A and B are digits. A can be any digit from 1 to 9, and B can be any digit from 0 to 9. Since the middle digit B can be any digit, there are 10 choices for B (0 through 9). For A, there are 9 choices (1 through 9), as it cannot be 0 to maintain the 3-digit requirement. Therefore, there are a total of 9 * 10 = 90 different 3-digit palindromes.

Step 2: Determine which palindromes are multiples of 3
To check if a number is a multiple of 3, you can sum its digits. If the sum is divisible by 3, then the original number is also divisible by 3. So, for each 3-digit palindrome, calculate the sum of its digits and check if it's divisible by 3.

Step 3: Count the multiples of 3
Go through all the 3-digit palindromes and count how many of them are multiples of 3.

Now, let's perform these steps:

Step 1: There are 90 different 3-digit palindromes.

Step 2: Check which of these are multiples of 3. To do this, calculate the sum of the digits for each palindrome:

- For ABA palindromes:
- A = 1, B = 0: Sum = 1 + 0 + 1 = 2 (not divisible by 3)
- A = 1, B = 1: Sum = 1 + 1 + 1 = 3 (divisible by 3)
- ...
- A = 9, B = 9: Sum = 9 + 9 + 9 = 27 (divisible by 3)

So, out of the 90 different 3-digit palindromes, there are 10 that are multiples of 3.

Therefore, there are 10 positive 3-digit palindromes that are multiples of 3.

1. 111
2. 222

4. 444

Palendromic are numbers spelt forward and backward same such as 'XYX"

For a 3 digit palendromic
The hundreds and units (first and last digit) must be the same which is from 1 through 9 = 9 possible outcome

The tens (middle number) runs from 0 to 9 = 10 possible outcome

Therfore
9 x 10 = 90
So it's 10 x 9 = 90 possible palendromic

Since it's a multiple of 3
Therefore 90 / 3 = 30

So we have a total of 30 palendromic which are divisible by 3

All the three-digit pallindromes occur between 100 and 1000 and there are 90 of them. Between 100 and 199, there are10 palindromes, between 200 and 299, there are 10 and so on. At 900-999, you would have counted 90 palindromes I.e 9 groups with 10 pallindromes each.
However, of the 90, only 30 are multiples of 3.
If in the group, the last digits of the pallindromes are not divisible by 3, the pallindromes in that group would be three in number. For instance, in 100 to 199, the pallindromes are 101, 111,121,131,141,151,161,171,181,191. The last digit of the pallindromes is 1 (not divisible by 3). But only 111,141 and 171 are multiples of 3. In 200-299: only 222, 252, 282. In 400-499: 414, 444, 474. In 500-599: 525, 555, 585, in 700-799: 717, 747, 777, and in 800-899: 828, 858, 888. Pallindromes so far are 18 pallindromes I.e 3 pallindromes from each of the 6 groups
However if in the group, the last digit of the pallindromes is divisible by 3, there would be 4 pallindromes in the group that are multiples of three. So, in 300-399, pallindromes are 303,313,323,333, 343,353,363,373,383,393. The last digit is 3( divisible by 3). Only four are multiples of 3: 303, 333, 363, 393. Same is true in 600-699: 606,636, 666, 696. And in 900-999: 909,936,969, 999. So in all, 12 pallindromes are multiples of three ie 4 from three groups. So total pallindromes between 100 to 1000 that are multiples of three are 18 + 12 =30

Re: First To Solve This Simple Maths Problem Gets 5k From Me by digitalgeorgy(m): 9:05pm On Oct 10, 2023
Follow this simple rule and you will easily get that.
1. A palindrome should have the first and last digit the same. In this case, we should have 1X1, 2X2, 3X3, 4X4, etc. where X is the missing number.

2. To be divisible by 3, we need to add the individual digits and if the sum is divisible by 3, then the main number is divisible by 3. That means the sum of the individual number should be 3,6,9,12,15,18 or 21

Now let's work it out.
For the first series (1X1)

adding the individual digits, 1+X+1=3
X=3-2
X=1 hence 111
or 1+X+1=6
X=6-2
X=4 hence 141
or 1+X+1=9
X=7 hence 171
but 1+X+1=12
X =10, since it is not one digit, it will be discarded.

For the second series(2X2)
2+X+2=3 X=-1 discarded
2+X+2=6. X=2 hence 222
2+X+2=9. X=5 hence 252
2+X+2=12. X=8 hence 282
2+X+2=15. X= 11 discarded

For the third series (3X3)
3+X+3=6 X=0 hence 303
3+X+3=9. X=3 hence 333
3+X+3=12. X=6 hence 363
3+X+3 =15. X=9. hence 393
3+X+3=18. X=12. discarded

continue with other series.

In the rule of mathematics, a number is divisible by 3 only if the sum of its digits is divisible by 3. Eg 419 is not divisible by 3 cos 4+1+9 = 14. And 14 canโ€™t divide 3.
Therefore apply the rule for 100 to 999 by increasing the tense by 3 in the hundred ranges.
Thus the palindrome divisible by 3 are
111
141
171
