Lagos To Prosecute Managers For Reopening Sealed Restaurant by Lanrelagboi: 6:37am On Oct 24, 2023

Two managers at Kingfisher, a restaurant in the Lekki area of Lagos State, have been arrested after they broke the government seal used to shut the facility and resume full operations.

This was disclosed in a post on the official X handle of the Senior Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on New Media, Jubril Gawat, on Monday.

According to Gawat, the Commissioner for the Environment, Tokunbo Wahab, and the General Manager of the state's Environmental Protection Agency, Tunde Ajayi, discovered this on Sunday night during a routine compliance of sealed facilities in the area.

Gawat added, "The Governor's monitoring team provided security backup, and two managers were arrested at about 12:30 a.m. with the help of the CSO to the Governor.

"They will be charged to court today and face the maximum consequence of their actions."

Operatives of the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency sealed some entertainment centres in Lekki Phase 1 on Saturday for repeated environmental violations.

The affected establishments include Red Bar, Kingfisher, Sea Lounge, HOV Lounge, Circa, Bolivar, and Bay Lounge.

Well, they believe in their connections and oga at the top syndrome. I do not think that the managers on their own broke the seal. I don't think they have that gut. There's someone giving contradictory order from somewhere. Anyway, it's Sanwo-Olu's duty to place effective deterrent and make these fat cats know that he meant business. This arraignment should not be audio.

To meddle in this, one needs to also know the reasons they were shut down and the conditions given for them to reopen. For them to reopen without seeing everything through is undermining the agency responsible for the initial shutdown. This is the official and professional view of what happened.

Let me share the story of a rainmakers in a village. Ahead of a ceremony, one rainmaker was paid to settle the other rainmakers so rain will not fall on the day of the ceremony. But the rainmaker settled only few of them and left out the others. The celebrants knew nothing about this and went ahead with the ceremony. But the other rainmakers were angry and brought down rain on that day of the ceremony.

Nothing last forever. One day the oppressors will become oppressed. No evil targeted on the loved tribe from the east shall last longer neither will it prosper.

Good one from the LASG.

We know people wey dey carry agidi for head like one fan.

We are sure na these people still dey challenge LASG go dey reopen sealed place because they feel they are not cowards and can always challenge anybody including God.

Anyone not ready to comply with the government should be sent to jail or back to his Godforsaken barren land.

This is SW, we won't tolerate any form of ill-manners, arrogance or cannibalism

These Lagos state officials appear like agents of poverty lately. They keep on closing markets, closing businesses etc on flimsy excuses.
The way Nigeria is now, they are supposed to be using huge funds to inject into small businesses to multiply and strengthen them. Instead they are shutting them down. They are now moving from one eatery to supermarkets and locking the tyres of their customers packed in front of their premises! Who does that?
This is pure wickedness of the highest order against businesses

They should be dealt with and also fined heavily to serve as deterrent to other law breakers. We must fight corrupt practices from the root.

They are the type of people who believe Nigeria will never work. They try to undermine the government at every given time. Next you'll hear them say "if it was in YourKay (UK)" "if it was in America" "if it was in Europe" and all manner of nonsense they can spew in painting the country bad.

We need to take stringent measures in dealing with those who underestimate the government. We need to grow pass our despicable level of foolishness and ill mannered lifestyles in this country if we must achieve the standard of the European countries we wish for.

Kudos to Lagos state government for rising up to the environmental challenges and in making sure Lagos is sane. I foresee Lagos becoming the New York of Nigeria in the nearest years.
