Technology transfer: Unizik VC visits Kigali, Rwanda

The Vice Chancellor Nnamdi Azikiwe University,Awka, Anambra State, Prof Charles Esimone, has gone to Kigali, Rwanda to seek technology transfer to his university.


Technology transfer (TT), also called transfer of technology (TOT), is the process of transferring (disseminating) technology from the person or organization that owns or holds it to another person or organization, in an attempt to transform inventions and scientific outcomes into new products and services that benefit society.

The VC's trip to Kigali was disclosed on Tuesday in a statement by the Special Adviser to the Vice Chancellor on Public Relations and Special Duties, Dr Emmanuel Ojukwu.


According to the statement the VC would meet with the management of International Computer Driving License( ICDL) to set up Accredited Test Center (ATC) at UNIZIK.


The statement read in part, "The Vice Chancellor, Unizik meets with the Management of ICDL Africa( International Computer Driving License) at the Headquarters in Kigali for partnership with the University to setup Accredited Test Center (ATC) to enable the University's transformation agenda of the Vice Chancellor for digital literacy and ICT skills for the 21st century workplace.

"The VC will be attending ICDL Africa Forum, 25th Oct 2023 at Kigali, Rwanda to discuss Digital Litracy for all: Tackling Challenges and overcoming barries in Africa.

"This will reposition the University's academic non-teaching staff and undergraduates/ Postgraduates for a productive workforce by the proficient use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) that empowers individuals, organizations and society, through the development, promotion, and delivery of quality certification programmes at the Unizik ATC.

Our correspondent learnt that Prof Charles Esimone began talks with the International Computer Driving License (ICDL) about three years ago.
