Make una dey calm down. It is not the ordinary Nigerian you see on the street or on twitter that hoards dollars.
It is the political elite including your Asiwaju kitchen cabinet and household.

Taiwo & his team have done a good job but wait for execution before jumping for joy.
FreeStuffsNG:
13. Expand the official foreign exchange market to incorporate BDCs, forex apps and retail fx dealers, and outlaw transactions in the black market

14. Digitalise Nigeria’s fx regime and discourage speculative demands and hoarding of fx in cash

15. Imposition of excise tax on foreign exchange transactions outside the official market

Great job by Taiwo Oyedele and his team of patriotic Nigerians. These are bold audacious moves by the Asiwaju Tinubu-led Federal Government. This is absolutely brilliant!

Only unpatriotic and greedy people will go buy fx to hoard and they deserve not only to lose their funds but must be prosecuted for economic sabotage as well.

This current FG will not go borrowing money or use hard-earned forex inflow to fight against the overvalued US dollar on the streets. You all will get burnt las las.

Those being deceived to keep hoarding forex will get burnt severely las las.

It's criminal and unpatriotic mindset that will make an otherwise educated person who spends almost 100% of his day to day expenses in naira to still go and hoard forex and crowd out those who genuinely need it. If they don't get burnt, no defence of the naira will deter such unpatriotic elements. Not even EFCC that Mr Emefiele kept sending after them will make them stop.

* Outlaw transactions in the black market. *

Please what is this ?

Few Nigerians get forex via the banks. The only way to get dollars is from BDC or so called black market.

Government of propaganda. The parrallel/black market is the only way for most Nigerians to get dollar. This is the market that shows the true naira value.

The CBN quote is propaganda. I believe they only use this window to scam foreign investors or unsuspecting victims, from their dollars.

Let me read up first

Modified.
The title is actually misleading because this is a recommendation of a committee and not the implementation.

Even though it is a good idea, it cannot be stopped until the government through the banks starts making FX available without limits that is when the black market will crash drastically or phased off entirely.

Again the dollar currently in the black market isn't the sole property of the FRN, if not apart from the suggestion above, a change in color just as was done to the naira notes recently will have curbed the excesses of the fraudulent black market traders.

The recommendations are good but enacting law that it not enforceable will lead to lawlessness. A good law must be enforceable and unambiguous.

since 1960 your money has been devaluing, don't blame the symptom blame the root cause. BLAME your government for the mismanagement.

Government that illegally prints money via ways & means. Too many naira chasing too few dollars. This is the problem - blame your government not the problems.

Me I applied for FX for travel, and no hope of getting it.

Where else to go, except the black market?

The black market is the only exchange we have in Nigeria. I$E etc are just scams.

More policies with unrealistic expectations. Watch as the Naira will further depreciate, as this is only going to affect legitimate businesses and not the dollar loving politicians. undecided

Not offloading, the price will jump due to the scarcity that the policy will create.

HODL!!!

CBN must be forced to digitize FX trading and tax the system in order to provide Nigerians access to platforms to earn passive income. They can set a threshold so that international players do not bankrupt the system. The best they will do is become prop firms. Either way, government can use tax to manage the flow.

One more thing, this is a good thing, Nigerians with sense should begin to export anything they see. Nigeria is becoming export oriented economy.

Whatever you can do to bring in hard currencies. Do it and grow Nigeria.

Shey e dey pain you ni? Let anyone that can hoard do that nah. Even the committe members sef wan change dollars.
Back to he real issues, those are nice moves though but the issues with our Naira is far from being over. Government interferences are just too much. Who are the speculators? You think it's you and I? I was knew a governor who was made billions speculating our exchange rates.

The other factor is the economy which at the moment is ailing. We are a petrodollar economic and our appetite for importation is on the high side instead of exportation. The cure for Naira is not a day job, it has fallen already.
