The IGP cannot direct the health sector. Only the Min of Health can. He only circulated the message to his fellow policemen, not to the health sector workers.

I believe all hospitals have a good relationship with their nearest police stations. Contacting the police discretely isn't a difficult thing for any hospital.

However, the problem is there are many loopholes in our laws and system that people can exploit against each other. Police are especially notorious for this evil act.

Televise it and stop sending it as memo. Some of our health workers no dey try at all. Victims that would have been saved due to gun shot wounds,would just be left to die all in the name of "abeg bring police report"

The most annoying set of people in our nation today are health workers. They are so used to seeing death that their attitude will make you wonder if they are in a secret society waiting to harvest blood. Take a patient to them you will either fight or beg them before their fake treatment will start. 90% of deaths today are caused by health workers negligence jare

In Nigeria, we only complain when we are affected.
The police cañ't harrass a hospital.
But it's good u are making it an excuse now.

this is not the first time the police has issued this kind of statement, the police needs to work on why this kind of order are hardly followed by its officers, and the hospitals,while these hospitals are inhumane for rejecting accident victims, they have a clarion call to serve and that call should supercede any police fear.

some gunshot wounds can't be treated let the shot land on the heart or some gunshot wounds cab also need a vascular surgeon ASAP. U don't tamper with gunshot wounds anyhow u must av on ground surgeons skilled in the site affected most times general or vascular surgeons. U can only resuscitate the patient pending when surgery is feasible based on availability..mind you nigeria current ly has Dr's shortage so the fact you have access to one doesn't mean others do..go to govt hospital and count the waiting time.

Believe the IGP at your own peril.

A more, brutal and legal action should follow if any hospital fails to treat gunshot patient and in such case the patient dies, the hospital should be responsible for the death

That's how it supposed to be. Save lives first, after that you can begin investigation before discharging the patient.

Attend to gunshot victims but report the case to the nearest police station.

They have fixed this issues before but I still wonder why the hospital are still asking police reports for gunshot wounds.....
While treating gunshot wounds the hospital can call the police to come and investigate and if the person is a suspected criminal they can cuff him to the bed as he receives treatment....

As u treating d patient wit bullet wound, u contact d police nd report d case, police will then come to d hospital to investigate. Dats how is done in other country. U can actually save an armed robber to get information from him about der operation and save more lives.
