Crazy clown should hold Bola Ahmed Tinubu responsible

He should hold himself responsible.

The stock market can match inflation after all the underlying products are priced to produce a real return.

However it can not address currency risk because that is not the function of the stock market.

If you want to address currency risk He should have bought fx denominated bonds ( for a person of his age/ the father/ whom I guess would be currently in his 60s or early 70's)

This would have addressed currency risk.

It's not the fault of any government. Its simply poor knowledge of diversification. Diversification is not true diversification if it within one market in one country irrespective of how many stocks.

Feel for the dad. We all make mistakes. Hopefully the son will make it up to him.

If you invested 1 million in enron in 2001 and 1 million in apple in 2001,you would have different outcomes.

The crash of 2008 not withstanding I am sure people bought shares in banks that went belly up before 2008. Savannah bank, trade bank, etal.

The fact that the man is not naming the stocks says this is just clout chasing.

1 million naira stock my dad bought for us in 2002 is now valued at N11K” – Craze Crown cries out

He said that in 2002, their father, concerned about their future, decided to buy shares with the expectation that they would appreciate and convert into a large sum of money.

“You have failed as a mother if your son prioritizes you over his wife” -Skit maker Craze Clown

Craze Crown, a popular comedian, regrets the discovery that the one million naira stock his father purchased for them 11 years ago is now worth only N12,000.

The legendary comedian made the announcement on his Instagram page while lamenting the country’s current state.

He said that in 2002, their father, concerned about their future, decided to buy shares with the expectation that they would appreciate and convert into a large sum of money.

Unfortunately, this was not the case, as the currency had devalued to 11,561.46.

He was furious at how worthless it had become and questioned what he was supposed to do with such a small sum of money.

This has nothing to do with inflation because if it were due to inflation , those shares should be trading upwards of hundreds of millions .

The company is a shitty company whose value plummeted below its original opening price.

I am sure it's now trading at less than 2kobo a share against the original standard offer of #10.

This has to do with the sharp practices and lack of regulation that plagued the NSE in the early 2000s .

It was a shark tank back then and every idiot with a CAC liscence could play the crap tables known as the NSE.

I won't advice my enemy to put one kobo in the NSE.

You are the only one who understands what played out.

The company stocks simply collapsed.

Nothing to even do with Nigerian economy or dollar rate.

Other companies since that time have since appreciated in Naira value.

The entire point of investing in the stock market is to leverage against inflation as stock prices are suppose to inflate with inflation.

Those stocks were overvalued at whatever unit price that cost one million to purchase.

The NSE is probably the only legit scamming institution that is allowed to legally scam people off their money.

Not true. He should tell us the company his father invested in. Sound stocks a lot of us invested in in 2005-7 the share price may be less or half the price of then, but the dividends paid into account over the years is obviously more than the amount we bought them. Some we actually lost out as bad investment, others the value is less than ten percent of what it was worth then. In life we gain some, we lose some. What matters most is we move and look for new money to be made.

Do you know how many shares I had? When the thing nose-dived without warning my enemy nearly craze and my dad was telling me then to sell off o.. I dey form long term thinz. He sold off and regained his money.

I kept hoping on the market, my old man dey laugh me. I had to sell off at some point when there was no hope of a rebound in the stock market in sight and I sold off eventually at a huge loss. The shares depreciated so badly I didn't even realize the principal amount.

It depends on the shares of the company you bought. Most people before 2009 bought overvalued banking shares. A lot of the banks are dead or have her acquired by other banks at ridiculous prices.

First bank is one of the biggest and most capitalized banks in Nigeria till today. They did a public offer in 2007 at about N30 per share. As at the close of trading on Friday, First bank share was sold at around N16. If first bank has lost over half of her share price since 2007, imagine how the portfolio of someone that invested in BankPHB, Diamond bank, First Atlantic, Skye bank, Oceanic etc would be right now.

You are naive.

The London Stock Market and NYSE are Ponzi schemes that need a new sucker to come along and buy shares at a marginal profit.

London Stock Market was founded by a bunch of young spoilt aristocrats who just came into their family inheritance.
It was originally a square where young brats dressed in silk shirts , tail coats and high hats will congregate like the way our Akata brothers do at every liquor store street corner in the hood.

They gambled amongst each other from everything relating to who will win a duel, which nation will emerge victorious in a war, if they king will fall out with a particular lord and have him beheaded. It was a dem of gamblers back then and so far nothing has changed.

I will let you into a secret. The west end London property market is open to any criminal, rogue politician or warlord. You go to London's West end and you will see flats prized at £50million pounds. The would be criminal who wants to launder his money purchases these overpriced properties through a London investment and fund management firm. This goes to further inflate the already bubble popping point of the London real estate market keeping it afloat longer than it should. The investment firm then takes a loan against the property and uses it to purchase shares. Now the UK economy has grown by mysterious £100million. Of course they can also use the shares to take out another loan of slightly lower amount and send it to a secure offshore account for the criminal.

Now the money is laundered . The criminal has his money slightly lower (£30m) but London's real estate has been saved by £50m and the London Stock Market rose by additional £50m.

This is what they do.

Money laundery laws only exist towards getting every illicit funds funneled through London stock market and real estate.

Don't even let me go into the madly irrational world of the arts market.

So better know this that stock markets exist for one reason only and that is to continue to prop the casino ventures known as the financial liquidity based economy.
