Yesterday From X (formerly Twitter):

In movies, skits etc, I noticed a very superficial portrayal of the concept "old money" with an entire bandwidth that simplistically spans "who my father is" "designer brands" "or how much money they have".
zero substance, which further encourages the elite of our society to continue to betray their responsibility to society.

To be Old money or to have said mindset implies that you have / can see past money. You can live for higher ideals such as Integrity, service , truth and you can't be bought.

This frame of mind Is "usually" passed down by people who have seen past money and can afford to live for the higher ideals of life e.g Integrity, legacy, impact, love, and service.

People that come to mind most recently are a David Hundeyin, who simply refuses to be silenced and can't be bought, Herbert Macaulay, who could have played ostrich with indigene rights but choose to take a stand or Bolahji Alakija who joined the RAF in World war 2 in his words "Alakija saw his reasons for volunteering and defeating Hitler in a new future, one beyond the British Empire, he said “In the diversity of its people the British Empire is already the prototype of an international order … It has been harnessed to certain ideals which are, slowly and imperfectly, coming to fulfilment—the ideals of equal care for the needs of all, of equal opportunity for the capacities of all, of government by and for the governed, of free collaboration between peoples….”
Or  Ojukwu, ward of the Queen of England, Rollysroyce driving Oxonian, took a stand when his people were being massacred. He could have flown to sardinia to play in the sun and waited it out.

This is not the only means by which such values come down, many, many Nigerians have these values and mindset without coming from generational wealth . I'll say a person that can speak their truth without intimidation and cannot be silenced by money or material things (regardless of their financial status) is more old money than a man that won't let us hear word because some of his ancestors/(grandparents) recently attended Cambridge, but as baba said " provide him food , he will eat and then sing for you"
Our society needs to portray and push this idea that with wealth, luck or blessings MUST COME a level of responsibility and service to leave the world a better place. Our country is in desperate need of more people who can literally afford to be selfless.

End of the day, these 3 people shared a thing in common; Failure.
*Ojukwu failed and ran away to Abdijan.
*David Odensin failed and ran to take refuge in Ghana.
*GRV failed and his political ambition fled to his mother's state in Anambra where it is forever burried.

Did that idiot Chinedu Gbadebo actually put Hundeyin in the same category as Bolaji Alakija and Herbert Macaulay?

I guess now his political career is dead in Yorubaland, still hope for him to assume the Presidency of the Federal Republic of Biafra, he can say whatever nonsense comes to his mind.

Shinedu is not even hiding it anymore.

Blood is thicker than water. He is praising Ojuku that tried invading the Lagos the same lunatic Shinedu wan to govern.

Before the last election, we saw some of his tweets where he was praising IPOB and justifying their terrorism so people like me is not surprised.

He should have praised Hundeyin after providing FBI files and not before.

Hundeyin no gree come with FBI files.

I always encouraged the guy to make the most of those who choose to be foolish.

All of you are stupid

Indeed many Nigerians are products of a failed educational system.
Within the context of what GRV said; he is right
Even though you may not agree with the supposed examples of those from "noble homes" who were invested in a higher calling

Gbadebo Rhodes should even continue praising Ojukwu that sent his Army to invade Lagos and Ibadan

That way the SW Indigenes will never make the mistake of voting for him

With Patience he might even start insulting Awolowo and that will completely finish off his Political Career in the SW

I blame the omoluabi ethos that allows liberalism of the highest form in a cosmopolitan society....

It has its own downsides e.g giving voice to social miscreants like this GRV who has same idea like his forefathers.....an idea that will continue to fail because Lagos is not a no man's land after all

If you cannot think in Yoruba, you have no business aspiring to govern her people...period!
