Other countries are investing massively on their education sector, but Nigerian Government want to generate income from the same education sector.what an irony.

Is it because they are paying the salaries of the lecturers and staff

Or is it because of student loan

Is it because fees have increased in schools

Nawaz O

This country is ridiculous un-understandable

The revenue schools generated by increasing school fees? They increased the school fees because government failed in their obligations to fund them in the first place. Now government wants to extort them of the revenue they are generating internally.

Best way to go. The America and U.K universities we want to emulate or compare ourselves to are generating revenue from high school fees. The reason there are provisions like scholarship, loan etc to pay tuition fees

This is the autonomy the universities were fighting for. Now that it has been granted, there should be no more excuses.

even if you couldnt read the entire article, did you read the topic?

The institutions will become creative this time around. I just want to request that FG should suspend further creation of new universities.

This balablu government os evll wicked & insensitive

...instead for them to put a halt in their luxury lifestyles of yacht, a stop to the renovation of already refurbished buildings running into billions , cutting their cost & stopping the monumental corruption ofnthe emilokan maladministration

...no they rather shift the burden to areas where the downtrodden citizens of Nigeria are looking for a way to just survive

Student loans in the mud. Balablu master

A whole university in the capital generating $1.4M a year. There lies the problem; on the flip side, a departments budget or grants alone in a low grade western university will generate 10x that.
Nigerian universities really need to step up, a lot of redundant departments should be closed down to focus on STEM.

How does a university that is barely able to pay electricity and water bill due to poor funding from FG function? Even most University health centres lack basic drugs because there is no money to procure them, most other services now run in a skeletal manner due to poor funding.
Its going to be quite rough for these public schools if it turns out this way,

These motherbleepers are too busy embezzling and dealing drugs to think about wellbeing of people. Even worse, they prefer people as illiterate as possible, that is why they are making it increasingly difficult to study.

Unfortunately, it is simple. Institutions will pass the increased cost of operation to students. As most of students only get money from their already struggling parents, what is going to happen? How many of them are already facing hardships? How many of them will get into drugs, prostitution, 419? How many of them will be forced to drop out? UGHHHHHHH... while these fat orobo motherbleepers are making more and more new laws.

I won't laugh. TASUED students are protesting, school fees is now 240k+. I don't know if some of you on this forum deliberately come online and say stuffs like this. A country where they'll offer fresh graduate 20k job and they'll use 200k out of you. Paying school fees of that amount, upon graduation you'll be seeing nonsense pays. In Europe, 10hrs job pay is more than some bankers salaries here etc. Well, it's what you plant you'll get. Pressure here and there, to leave your parents house, from women you date(nonsense one's), bills etc and the Nigeria pressure to make it quick as they'll say, there's no time. But they keep compounding problems. We'll see how most Nigerian society will be, years to come.

Serves all of you that supported and voted for the drug master and the forgery kingpin. A man with fake certificate, how can he know what education is? You can't give what you don't have. Tinubu has no business doing in Aso Rock because he is not worth it. Shame to the judges of the high courts, appeal courts and the Supreme court for running faster than a road runners ignoring what true judgement is. Expect school fees hike and the ripple effect will be on the shoulders of the already struggling parents. Those of you who sold your votes for #10k and also voted on tribal lines, welcome. Una never see anything, una go hear Chinese story.

I'm not sure how this policies tinubu is putting in place will work. I mean this was not how I learnt economics in school. The economy is not anywhere close to being stable and he is taxing the people heavily without anything productive. I see nigerians as slaves working for there master
