stickle:the same ASUU are always quick to lambast the govt for underfunding the school even when they know govt subsidies federal school fees and make sure they pay all the staff directly from govt purse. The money the school is not generating 1 Like |

NOBODY wants to be accountable for the funds they receive. How much do we pay for matriculation, acceptance fees, brochures fees, convocation fees, results fees and we get NOTHING in return and the university never ever accounts for the money. We even pay cash for some fees that we never really know what the payment is for. What is department dues user for? Hostel fees for buildings that were built decades ago with FGN funding? 1 Like |

The FG should make the reasons for the 40 percent known to the general public if ASUU insists it's wrong. Transparency is very important in all the government establishments in Nigeria. We must move this country forward by all means so that those going abroad can see every reason to stay at home and not think of japa. |

There are obviously a lot of ignorant folks on this platform. People who lack reasoning ability & just support anything government does. First off, Federal Tertiary Institutions are poorly funded. The subvention from FG in a year barely pays for services in 3 months. To Provide electricity, some institutions spend as much as 15m every month to pay bills, not including cost on generators. All revenue generated already goes to FG account where about 25% is deducted. FG Tertiary institutions pay for outsourced services (security, cleaners, mail runners etc) from IGR. All services paid for by students are already heavily subsidized. If in doubt, compare charges for similar services in public & private Tertiary institutions. Due to the strangulating recruitment policy of the FG, all federal Tertiary institutions are forced to use ad-hoc personnel to help close the manpower shortfall. Those Ad-hoc personnel are paid from IGR. |
