How can the navy destroy 15,775 litres of crude oil without causing a massive environmental disaster? That's a lot of oil to just dump into the sea or burn off. Surely, they would have to find a way to safely dispose of it or return it to the rightful owners.

How can they estimate the value of the products to be N13,251,000? That's a very precise number for something that depends on the market price and the quality of the oil. How did they measure the quantity and the grade of the oil? Did they have a lab on board or did they just guess?

According to them, the wooden boat was intercepted about 12 nautical miles off the coast when they also say that the base will intensify surveillance within the axis? That's a huge distance to cover with a wooden boat. How did they track and intercept it? Did they have a radar or a satellite or did they just spot it with their eyes?

They claim the base is committed to stamp out the menace of COT and other crimes when they also say that they received intel on illegal bunkering within the axis? That means they already knew that there was a problem and they didn't do anything about it until now. How effective is their surveillance and intelligence?

This statement is a load of rubbish that doesn't add up. It sounds like the navy is trying to cover up their incompetence or corruption by making up a story that doesn't match the facts.

Can't they retrieve these oil and utilise it? Must what is stolen destroyed

Is that estimate thirteen million abi thirteen billion Naira? This news looks like more powerful thieves have stolen crude from less powerful thieves! What is the point of your security catching a car snatcher and burning the car ....to punish who exactly??

Good and intelligent questions.
The Nigeria Navy have always been complicit in oil bunkering from all that have come out to speak.

A thief stole your property, you caught the thief with your property or the thief ran away leaving your property, then you use your own machinery to destroy your own property shocked shocked shocked... What sense is in that?

I guess there is more to it... Why destroy? Abi somebody took 5,775 barrels from the 15000+ and declared they destroyed the 15000+?

They can't make arrest because they know those who are in charge of the bunkering. The best they can do is destroy the crude oils and the ship to serve as an example for rest. Heads go roll if arrest is made and there is definitely no way they won't also be implicated. angry

Supported. The modular refineries cannot get enough supply and you're destroying the one available? Besides the modular refineries will gladly pay government for the stolen crude instead of destroying it and polluting the environment at the same time.

Government can not look into nada because government is the thief.
Know this and know peace.
As for the destroyed crude, they are just deceiving themselves and some ignorant people.
Customs, immigration, Navy, NDLEA do not destroy seized items.
They sell them off and destroy the container along with a few expired items from their storage facilities.
That boat you see on fire will burn without the crude.
It's their way and it's very difficult to catch them because they have a "seize and destroy" mandate and everyone who is in the know of their practices get a share of the returns.
