Which kind country is this for God's sake??

Destroy, destroy, destroy if at all it was destroyed,,,,are they normal at all,,,so that crude can't be taken back to a government approved modular refinery?

So if police catches thieves who have robbed a bank or #13 million, the police should burn the money abi

Something that they will burn like 100 litres and sell the rest on the High seas.
Why will they burn the oil if not for the purpose if hiding something?
Oil that can be returned to the national oil company instead of being used to destroy the environment in the name of burning.
They are using the burning to hide the fact that most of the seized oil was resold to rogue companies on the High seas.

After the large chunck of it has been stolen
Botragelad:
How can the navy destroy 15,775 litres of crude oil without causing a massive environmental disaster? That's a lot of oil to just dump into the sea or burn off. Surely, they would have to find a way to safely dispose of it or return it to the rightful owners.

How can they estimate the value of the products to be N13,251,000? That's a very precise number for something that depends on the market price and the quality of the oil. How did they measure the quantity and the grade of the oil? Did they have a lab on board or did they just guess?

According to them, the wooden boat was intercepted about 12 nautical miles off the coast when they also say that the base will intensify surveillance within the axis? That's a huge distance to cover with a wooden boat. How did they track and intercept it? Did they have a radar or a satellite or did they just spot it with their eyes?

They claim the base is committed to stamp out the menace of COT and other crimes when they also say that they received intel on illegal bunkering within the axis? That means they already knew that there was a problem and they didn't do anything about it until now. How effective is their surveillance and intelligence?

This statement is a load of rubbish that doesn't add up. It sounds like the navy is trying to cover up their incompetence or corruption by making up a story that doesn't match the facts.

How does one destroy 15,000 liters of crude oil?

What is the attendant damage that will do?

Crude oil container a lot of heavy metal and serious pollutants that can do serious damage.

How do you simply destroy that?

What do you do with the equally toxic residue that is left over?

Either this is a bunch of baloney or we have some really stupid men at the Navy

It's hightime government look into this oil theft holistically.

Chief Edwin Kiagbodo Clarke ( Elder Statesman and Ijaw Leader ) have cautioned the federal government from time to time to allow modular refinery to enable the community benefit from a free product in their community but the government of Nigeria is always doing the wrong thing.

If modular refinery is allowed to be established that will reduced all this wanton destructions.

Our refineries need crude oil, why not channel it to a designated depot instead of causing environment pollution. Or was the stuff diverted & some burnt with the boat?
