It’s in the military government then that there’s huge scholarships for the less privileged people not to talk of good economy during the military era. Check online and search how the economy was booming during the military era in Nigeria politics, compare it to democracy system of government in Nigeria. Tinubu and APC will never help Nigeria in terms of economic growth, security issues, agriculture, health and education. Democracy as it is good . But, it doesn't work well for us in Nigeria because of corruption and corruption did not allow the rule of law to shape our democracy.
In Nigeria, there is no law for the rich. How can democracy work where there is disregard with the rule of law.
A Tribunal will rule on a case, appeal court will over turned it and Supreme Court will reinstate it when money exchange hands.
Democracy where the highest bidder wins elections. It is our attitude , our love for embezzlement, our greediness for power that didn't democracy to work for us as a nation.
The referee of democracy is the law. Do we have law in Nigeria? Do we have law enforcement agency in Nigeria? No. The rich has hijacked the police to bend the law. Well, there's no system that's perfect. Even the US democracy is not perfect. I have many problems with the system.
The US practices a democracy in which the person with the majority votes doesn't always win.
There's no other place in the world where the candidate with the majority votes is not guaranteed to win.
My biggest problem with Nigerian democracy is that it's too expensive and we can't really afford it. We are practicing g the US system, which is too danm expensive for us. The only difference is the electoral college which is a major problem in the US.
We need a unicameral legislative system with 6 years of tenure. we have too many elections which are very expensive to carry out and always very contentious.

Baba Iyabo was in govt for 8 years and he didn't think of these ideas when he was in control. I can't take such a person very seriously.

Dude, I don't think your outburst was necessary. No where in his speech did OBJ mention a recourse to military rule. Of course there must be other systems of governance that could be invented to suit the peculiar experiences and expectations of a people; and that is what the old man is advocating for. It is only a mad person that will continue to do the same thing while expecting a different result.

Democracy is a very cunning government, it doesn't function well in places like here where there is high ignorance and illiteracy. What we're practicing in Nigeria is adulterated democracy, almost lapping into oligarchy.
