From governor to minister . Same story same lies .
Re: FG Plans To Revive National Shipping Line by seborrhic: 6:04pm On Nov 21, 2023
Just that it would be hijacked by corrupt politicians and run aground by goverment appointees who would use the shipping line for their businesses and won't want to pay.
Otherwise, the shipping business is one that can generate much needed foreign income for Nigeria and even save some dollars paid to foreign shipping lines.
We can also capture the West African market if it's properly run.

MEEVEET:
This bloody socialist government has no business in runing a business

Have you met with importers and exporters? Did they tell you lack of a shipping line is their priority? Or you just assumed

Things local businesses complained about you haven't looked at them

1) make all ports equal where you can import and export anything from any port.... There is no reason pharmaceutical and chemicals must come through apapa

So if I build my pharmaceutical company in port Harcourt I must use apapa to import raw materials I can't use onne in the same city

2) cost of export... According to AFDB PRESIDENT it cost $35k to export 100 tons from Nigeria and $4000 to export same from Ghana

Look into this

Is lack. Of ships a problem? .
Onne port generated 246billion in 10months in 2023. Nobody forces apapa port on you, your lies are constantly blown in your faces, get to work and stop always lamenting, bunch of lazy bones.

“Before I conclude, let me add that the ministry’s decision to consider the re-establishment of a National Shipping Line, through a strategic PPP arrangement, is borne out of our desire to capture a substantial share of the estimated $10 billion annual ship charter market within the country.

My thoughts exactly. We should not let civil servants and corrupt public officials fully run it till they run it aground again. Once it is done by PPP, the business entity mamaging the shipping line should be listed on the Nigerian stock exchange and managed efficiently like NAHCO,SAHCO etc. to create more wealth for Nigerians.

Great job by HE Oyetola. May God grant you more successes. Only the naysayers, criminal defamers, cowardly insecured narcissists, cyberbullies and unpatriotic elements will neither see nor benefit from these major positive results of your policies in our nation.

There is nothing worth celebrating since Tinubu became the president. I can only hope this initiative does not turn out to be another Nigeria airways lie the fraud under Buhari.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu need to get to work so millions of Nigerians that truly voted him into office do not regret because I can assure you Nigerians are facing the worse regret in leadership no matter the divide they are right now.

The morning the say shows the day, so far no bright initiative from the president.

Can you ever take a break from sadism and wilful pessimism? Na real wa for some of you.

@Topic.

Of course a good idea. For a virtually bankrupt and comatose nation, maximising income derivable from all human, natural and even geographical resources (like fertile land, body of water etc) is a veritable plan to base our immediate recovery and long term economic growth on.

The fact they have gone with a PPP arrangement gives hope this will be the norm enforced throughout governance of Nigeria going forward.

Involvement of the private sector, as partners with invested cash that only becomes profit if Government and private sector collaboration succeed, should mean optimal efficiency from private sector management capacity and profit-driven efficiency. Win win.

True that. The Onne river port is working, these ill-informed people would come online to spread propaganda against Apapa ports without due investigations about Onne.

Other river ports in other areas of Nigeria have shallow waters that have to be dredged annually at an expensive rate running into millions of Naira, so that is NOT profitable and sustainable. Then the foreign shipping companies don't find the river port aside Onne profitable because when they bring cargo containers in via their big cargo container ships, they have to take containers out and the only place that is really profitable for them is the Lagos, Ogun, Oyo axis because of the large numbers of manufacturing industries and industrial estates that use imported raw materials brought in cargo containers and then export their finished goods.

There's also the LaKaJi route (Lagos, Kano, Jibia) trade route which is the biggest trade route in Nigeria and essentially feeds into the Lagos Seaports operations for importation and exportation.

So all what you listed above were under Tinubu right? When will some of you, even for the sake of your own mental health, understand that what you are doing means you are not normal or 'balanced' and must change?

You cannot even give a new government a year in power yet you are happy to thump your chest and announce every move the new Government makes will fail because that happened in the past.

If you truly believe that there is no hope under a six month old government then why come here to repeat yourself daily like a perverse sadist?

Simply leave Nigeria or , if you cannot, stop talking about her business since, in your eyes, our situation is hopeless.

Coming here daily to vehemently and repetitively insist every policy or initiative a new Government announce will fail simply makes you pathetic, sadistic and a loser.

Won't it be cheaper than shipping lines?

Bro, this is why one of my favourite adage of all time is is one from the bible credited to the Lord.

The Lord has said, “Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand” (Matthew 12:25).

This is what is troubling Nigeria today. We are too divided and hateful of each other to succeed and stand as a nation.

This begs the question, when will we realize we should separate into undivided houses (via regional autonomy) so every house can have the chance to stand once it has rid itself of divisive elements?

Regional autonomy is a big ask, for now, performance will shut up the naysayers. i strongly believe the President will back it up.
