4. Most Nigerians do not take care of their health. People like Mr Ibu, doctor tells them they are diabetic, they put them on drugs...the patient then stops taking their drugs and trust God, or trust herbs. Then when kasalla burst, and the kidney or legs are in a bad state, that is when they will start spending money like water.(Try spending money for dialysis 3 times weekly, you can have 100 billion naira in your account, and half of that would be gone in a year....).

I mean, last year Punch published the story of a 86 year old Nigerian who had been diabetic for over 40 years, and was still in good shape. He listened to his doctors, changed his diet, and took his darn drugs as and at when due. Most Nigerians are strong head when it comes to drugs....especially for diabetes and hypertension, till problem starts.

At least thankfully some people are changing their lifestyle. Most Nigerians are not. How many Nigerians do exercise regularly? I bet you it is less than 10% nationwide..from Sokoto to Port hARCOURT. And when the body goes bust, we go dey spend money.

About wearing a different expensive outfit on each occasion they should learn from Michelle Obama ... as First Lady she bought clothes from rack... same stores ordinary people buy from ... got criticized... but defended her choice very well. Whatever she and her kids wore ... the store she bought from saw hell ... sold out and was in fulfilling orders . That's why anyone starting an exercise program is advised to check with their doctor first.

Usually, a simple exercise to start with for people who have never done it is walking. Or gentle skipping, or things like that

The people who die when they do exercise are either doing strenuous exercise (eg someone who hasn't done running before, tries to start running 100 meters in ten seconds..impossicant)...or have undiagnosed heart conditions (hence the need to check with the doctor first)..or exercising strenuously in harsh conditions

You can get a good health insurance for as low as 100k a year. Yet they spend more than that buying dstv subscription yearly or buying data yearly.

Women are so used to looking after other people, whether they want to or not. Most nurses are women for a reason. When it comes to health they prefer to do the caregiving than the caretaking, even when they’re ill themselves. Someone who gave birth to five kids and did all the needful health-rearing with them isn’t going to have the shame to go begging for money online to pay their hospital bills if they have a bit of money. You wouldn’t. The average woman is far more mature than the average man when it comes to taking care of oneself and that’s even what society encourages. Sometimes circumstances can’t be helped but a lot of these male actors can help it. They just make Hennesey (whiskey’s a revelation and so’s good brandy, but priorities) and toasting babes more of a priority than health insurance, as if they’re going to be protected cost-wise by something like the NHS if they base in Nigeria. And that’s a choice.

The average Nigerian man who wants to up a certain lifestyle does not look after himself too well. We’re just lucky that a lot of our foods (especially Igbo and Calabar ones) are particularly healthy, otherwise many wouldn’t see 55. And it’s not even like going to the gym is particularly common in Nigeria compared to how it is in the UK (etc.). So it’s just mineral, protein and weed keeping some people alive. Any sensible conscientiousness in keeping healthy people of that particular kind of disposition have is usually the work of some other trait or circumstance. They barely remember to take their tablets (or insulin if they’re diabetic) if they have some other condition already so they wait until they’re acutely ill before doing something about it. No prioritising in the past and remembering to save up for something like that and you might end up in playing the beggar. Only it won’t be acting-playing but for real x 2.
