Are you this dumb? Before you make comments, try to do a little Google search so that you don't keep disgracing yourself because you just want to show off.

The Quantity of oil in Lagos alone is 13,000 bpd more than the quantity in the whole of SE not to talk of Ondo. The Quantity of oil in SW more than triples what you have in SE. See, Yorubas are not where you think they are o. Just because they don't boast like you do doesn't mean dem no get value o. Yorubas are far worth more than you think o.

1. Akwa Ibom – 504,000 barrels per day (1st)
2. Delta – 346,000 bpd (2nd)
3. Rivers – 344,000 bpd (3rd)
4. Bayelsa – 290,000 bpd (4th)
5. Ondo – 60,000 bpd (5th)
6. Lagos – 40,000 bpd (6th)
7. Edo – 33,000 bpd (7th)
8. Imo – 17, 000 bpd (8th)
9. Abia – 11,000 bpd (9th)

Nicely put.

NB:

for all the ignoramus on this thread

If you add all the oil produced by South-Easten States together, it is not up to what is gotten from Ondo state.

Which explains why Ondo gets more than all the southeast state from the 13% derivation fund.

Google is your friend.

I hope you understand that the reason for the low production is that oil is barely been drilled. If you are trying to mock igbo people hope you know there are massive on shore oil drilling going on in the following igbo communities, Etche in Rvers. Ahoada in Rivers. Parts of Ndoki people in Delta state and other parts of Anioma in Delta state. Again the reason for the low production in the SE is federal government is granting less licences more bottlenecks and the communities where the oil is found in the SE, the indigenes are refusing and creating quite a lor of bottle necks.

The Oil Out put in the SE is barely being touched. Do your own research and find out my friend.

Okay.
But I hope you've looked carefully at the Nigerian map.

In fact, Abia state is much more of a Niger Delta than the Edo state.

Furthermore, Imo state (although not quite in ND area) will easily be more likely to be called Niger Delta than Edo too.

Therefore, even the idea that Niger Delta should = South-South is simply not entirely correct.

It's time we start asking the right QUESTIONS..

Let the NDDC be the “Development Commission” for the South-South Zone, just the way we have “Development Commissions” for the other Zones..
If there is any zone that doesn't have their own “Development Commission” yet, then their Senators and Reps-Members should push for it..

And then,, let ALL the Oil Producing States Have A new Umbrella Body.. Since it is now very clear that “Oil” is not found ONLY in the Niger-Delta Area.

Those of you who are geographically confused, the entire SE is in the Niger Delta. A Delta is a geographical expression, like a river or mountain. The entire SE is in the Niger Delta.

Like seriously? Never heard of that.
Thanks for the insight.

What fucking insight is he giving?

Nigeria is cursed with tribal bias, greed and myopia. The same ugly trend that followed Hilda Bacci on the GWR, where a certain Chef Dammy showed up, that’s the same trend we see in politics and top echelons of the country.
What has Anambra got to do with NDDC? By definition of Niger Delta Anambra, Imo, even Ondo states are off the list.
Now get this clear, I’m not talking about oil production here, I’m talking about Niger Delta by definition, by virtue of geographical features and proximity (see picture below).
Now it’s no coincidence that these original NDDC States happen, not only to to be significant oil producing states, but have also suffered the negative effects and hazards that these has caused their environments due to political exploitations and negligence. These states have paid the highest prices with their Human Resources in the struggle for having adequate compensation for what they give out to the nation. Think of Ken Saro Wiwa. Think of the Onshore offshore dichotomy that was a very tight rope that would have claimed Victor Attah’s life. Think of the Ogoni people’s fight and miseries. These are sacrifices and struggles that eventually gave NDDC its shape and form. Why do you think we have boys in the creeks today? Do you Think Niger Delta militants came up to fight Fulani herdsmen like Amotekun was created? Or you think they were formed to destroy bottles of beer like the hisbah police up north? Or you think these guys appeared just like IPOB or ESN to form their own country? No. These guys fought for resource control. They are are still doing so, until it becomes absolute.
Now it’s looking juicy, and every other state think, being in NDDC is just by having crude or traces of it. This Nigerian greed is appalling.
It must not be NDDC, create something else. NDDC is more than oil, it’s a struggle and a voice. People paid with their blood and lands to have that up and running today.
This was how Buhari wasted resources drilling for oil up north. That greed and toxic covetous mindset is eating up whatever is left of Nigeria. One minute you see a Hilda Bacci with authentic motives, driven by inspiration and sincere sacrifice to achieve a goal, the next minute you see an envious Chef Dammy, motivated by prejudice and covetousness to counter Hilda or share her glory.
Everyone wants to identify with milk and honey. They all want to put their feet where the money is , not minding whose sweat or blood paid for it.
It’s so disgusting for a country.
Rubbish.

This isn’t emotional, it’s being factual and human. If the Nigerian government could change democracy day from May 29 to June 12, claiming its in honor of a person killed in his democratic quest, (even though we know, the FG did it to appeal to certain ethnic group for political reasons), then there is no excuse for downplaying the significance of NDDC, as regards what it symbolizes to the Niger Deltans- a compensation for a painful past of struggle and under development, despite being the milk bank of the nation’s treasury. NDDC was created for the development of that region who shared common goals and struggles.
Let’s call a spade it’s name.

Did bokoharam not host flags after taking Nigeria territory! Which is more frightening, attacking the police force headquarters? UN house Abuja? this day office in Abuja? MEND bombings on independence day next to the president? Did any of such attacks happen under APC?

According to the existing (not-so-good) equation at the moment,, both Anambra, Enugu, and Ebonyi should have been added in the NDDC, whether they are Oil-producing States or not..

But then,, that's not what I am advocating for..
In reality, all these States that are currently in the NDDC are not truly located within the Niger-Delta per-se.

Thus,, I wish for a total reformation and redefinition of the NDDC..

So that all those States that are not truly ND States Should be removed from the NDDC..

And let only the true ND states be the only States in the newly reformed NDDC..

Yes, I agree that the nddc has to be rethinkered with.

In fact, it should be renamed to something like: "Oil producing States commission"

You can't have nddc and still have the one I suggested above.

The reason is that, nddc was created to reward oil producing states more and directly by the Federal govt, and thereby steming the then rampant issues if militancy.

It will therefore be an unnecessary duplication of function, if NDDC still stands while they have a new umbrella agency for all oil producing states.

They can still retain amnesty office to carter to the needs and demands of ex agitators from that region.

Afterwards, if govt wants to have "Development Commissions" for SS, then maybe they can have fir NE (after BH destructions), SE (for obvious reasons) and NC & NW (after the whole banditry issues witnessed there)

So, these development commissions can be named after zones rather than something like Niger Delta, or Middle Belt.
