Yorubas don't like stepping out of their comfort zone even the Hausas are many here in the east more than the Yorubas.

Don't even go there bro!
Oyo state that you all are always writing derogatory things about have many igbos in the civil service
At least, I personally know of 2021 employment by Makinde.
Many were employed as Teachers and some are currently in Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan.
Though, other tribes too were given appointment!

Let's not talk about my own State,Ondo.
Igbo people plenty for there.

People did not see it as anything before until your collective tribalism and bigotry got to the point where it can't be ignored anymore

Shalom!

What is your definition of "comfort zone"?

Is PH our comfort zone?
Is Benin our comfort zone?
Is the entire North our comfort zone?
What about U.S, U.K
Canada and other western countries, are they our comfort zones?

Because our people are many there o!

A little traveling will expose you

Both in

Health
Education
Trade and commerce
Indigenous industries

SE people are thriving excellently

I'm not expecting an untravelled person to know

SW only leverage is Lagos

SE you can boast of
Cities like Enugu - real estate
Aba/Onitsha/ Nnewi - heavily industrialized

Latest global ranking about urban cities in Nigeria
Ranked Onitsha far ahead of Ibadan or other slums you people have other there

You people are un

The fact that SE has the highest self employed people shows that businesses are thriving

You see people going to Lagos,abụ , Ibadan, Abeokuta, Kano etc to create branches of Thier businesses you claim they're running away

Onitsha is not just the largest market in Nigeria but Africa and yes SE people are the least taxed
Had my NYSC in the SE. There I saw a level of poverty I hadn’t seen in my whole life. Women work in farms and have become so shrunk physically.
They are so poor that they kill and eat donkeys as meat.
I saw these first hand without any exaggeration

What the Sardauna saw sitting in the sixties, some fo0lish Yoruba leaders are yet to see concerning the Igbos in 2023.. it was part of the reason they killed him (Ahmadu Bello) in the 15th January 1966 bloody Igbo coup.

They go about preaching diversity in other people's land, with other people's heritage but the story changes when it gets to their own region.. everything there in South East is reserved for Igbos alone but other people's jobs and political offices should be for everybody.
No wonder Port Harcourt people hated them so much that they refused to return their properties to them after the civil war ended. Such a greedy and cunny bunch of people.

Very sorry for the heart ache the ibos gave you. What do you use to do to them?

In as much as I detest Reno’s dance steps, this is a bitter truth.
Here’s another bitter one. There are three major tribes in Nigeria, referred to as the majority. These unfortunately, have the most tribally biased mindsets in the country. One would have been the best option amongst the three, in terms of accepting other tribes in sincerity without showing signs of superiority, if not for her affinity with disturbing religious inclinations, which has created huge political setbacks over the years.

…this is it. That aura that make you toxic in someone else’s space. That aura that rubbishes meaningful coexistence because you create the impression that you have a more superior culture and DNA than other tribes. That’s the problem.
It’s so sad that the average Nigerian isn’t a nationalist. Just a pathetic tribalist.

Let me step into the convo here.

Point of correction. Yorubas who number over 50 million worldwide and are indigenous to North Central and Western Nigeria, Benin Republic, Togo, and also naturalized citizens of Ghana and Cote d'Ivoire are some of the most widely traveled people in Nigeria and on earth.

Are you even aware that there are hundreds of thousands of Yorubas living in, and doing interstate and international business, and engaged in other professions in Northern Nigeria states, Rivers, Cross Rivers, Delta State, Cote d'Ivoire, Ghana, Gambia, South Africa, UK, Canada, USA, France, Germany, Netherlands, UAE, DRC, etc? Yorubas are some of the greatest international travelers on earth for business and leisure purposes with heavy investments. Because Yoruba folks (just like Edos for instance) don't unnessarily brag about their vast travel and business exploits but let actions speak louder than words doesn't mean they don't travel out of their regions! There is a famous market called Makola Market in Accra, Ghana which was founded by Yorubas many decades ago and it was named after Mokola Market in Ibadan.

Surely you are NOT well-informed for saying falsely on a major discussion forum like NL that Yoruba folks don't travel or prefer to stay in their region. Open your eyes wider and do not be so clannish or insular in thinking. Yorubas and Edos used to live in and/or travel a lot for business to the Eastern areas like Abakaliki, Aba, Onitsha, etc, but after the Civil War ended, they shifted to other nearby states like Rivers, Cross Rivers, etc, for safety reasons because of the loss of their investments after non-Ibos were expelled prior to the start of the Nigerian Civil War by the secessionists led by Col. Ojukwu in 1967. A Yoruba trader who wants to engage in trading can always move from Port Harcourt to nearby Aba and drive back home to PH with his or her purchases from Aba. Those living in Asaba can always drive into Onitsha and drive back to Asaba. There are many Yorubas who built houses and mansions in Port Harcourt because they feel much safer there. Period.

Lagos population is more than 20 million. Ogun and Oyo together is more than Lagos say 25 million. The rest of the SW will be around 15 million. NC and SS will be around 10 million. Total is at least 70 million in Nigeria. Togo Benin and Ghana will be close to 10 million. So West Africa is at least 80 million Yoruba apart from associated groups who qualify as Yoruba and they will surpass 20 million. Total 100 million in West Africa. Latinized Yoruba in the Americas will be triple that number and they are the real Yorubas practicing the culture but the majority don't speak the language as first language. All the non Yorubas on Yoruba land may be at most ten percent of the population and scattered Yoruba in Nigeria and West Africa are more than them in population. Your estimate of 50 million is very low. For Nigeria, it is those working in Yoruba cities that can be counted. Ditto for other nationalities in Nigeria. If everybody should return to their towns. Eighty percent of urban centers in Nigeria will be Yoruba.

@lawani,
Indeed.

Your population projections are quite impressive. I was just being conservative by not stating the population breakdown of Yorubas worldwide like you did.

If you read my last post again, I clearly stated that the Yorubas are OVER 50 million worldwide so, that is in sync with the projected figures you've provided here. The "estimated" population of Yoruba folks in Nigeria as of 2023 is clearly more than 50 million (in the absence of a population census based on an ethnic count) not to even talks of Yorubas and Yoruba descendants in Brazil, Cuba, Venezuela, Sierra Leone, Bekuta and other areas in Jamaica, and more.

When we talk of ethnic bigotry then let’s the Igbo teach you how to be one since it is paramount to them and when you talk if religious bigotry the Hausas/Fulani are the specialists. Yoruba is so far the most liberal ethnic group in Nigeria so far but now the Igbo has pushed them to the wall.

What's wrong with healthy competition?
What's wrong in working hard and earning your place?
You were all here when Enugu governor made a Yoruba man his top media man.
Even Otti too has Yorubas in his government
Will you be living in Ibadan and earn a job in Enugu you have to apply for it first and know people that are there
There's nothing destroying Nigeria now than giving people jobs they didn't earn .

Before I moved out, I worked at FMC Owo I took note about some of the people there, Yorubas are wonderful people no cap.
While others lazy around ( no insult Intended) I was coming to work early, punctual, learning hard from my seniors and nurses there.

I was quickly retained and promoted twice ( By God's grace)
I noticed alot of hate from people who don't like putting in the work . I had to save up and move out . The work ethics I learned from my seniors there who are majorly Yorubas really helped me

Sorry to say a huge chunk of Yorubas of this generation are lazy just few are firebrands no insult Intended.

Like I said there's absolutely nothing wrong someone working hard and earning their place in life . I'm sorry bro, Igbos are competitive and believe in individual success I don't know if we should be apologising about that o but if that makes you understand him fine!

Of course, Igbos are the ONLY competitive tribe in the world.
So, Europe, America and Asia are all waiting for Igbos to come and develop their continents.
The ignorance of arrogance.

In the SE, you will count 1000 people before you see a single Yoruba person. And there is a 90% chance that that one is an Agbo seller.

Nobody gives Agbo sellers employment in government offices.

Agbo sellers are human beings too and many of them are married women and they are responsible people making a honest living but you can employ entrepreneurs, former civil servants, transporters, artisans like tailors of which many are Yoruba in the East. Oil workers, telecomms workers, bank workers, Pastors etc. There are more Yoruba by percentage in the East than Igbos in the West. Give them appointments. Almost all drivers in Onitsha or PH are Yorubas. So you have more than enough to choose from. I have friends who are in the East and they are graduates

Your point shows that southeast is not welcoming to other tribes. That’s the bitter truth we have been saying long before the election. And the sense of entitlement of the average southeaster is beyond belief.

There are people there who are making it. I met a Yoruba in Nsukka who has become Igbo and speaks only very bad Yoruba. So it is your own that you know and most Igbos saying no Yoruba in the East may have never stayed in the East up to one week at a time if at all
Re: Reno Omokri Knocks People Gazette Post's On Diversity In LASG Appointments by lawani: 1:09am On Nov 30, 2023
There is no need appointing a Lagosian as head of TV in Enugu and etc. Employ Yorubas in Enugu, Anambra etc educated and Igbonized speaking Igbo in the same positions Igbos have been occupying in the west for like twenty years and there will be an equal footing. I had a room mate in the university who spoke Yoruba with a heavy Ekiti accent and also fluent Igbo and Ikwerre having grown up in the East with his family still there. There are millions of such people.
