They are celebrating a bag of rice at #43,000.
APC has really destroyed this country and the psyche of it's people.

It shall not be well with everyone that supports APC.

If it doesnt taste well, how can it contain the same nutrients. Abegi. Stop talking up your ethic centered governance. Nigeria has a country doesnt have the capacity to farm good rice. Simple as abc. And for farming, i farm tens of acres

Indeed they have damaged psyche. No one can compare the tenure of PDP against that of APC.

No one in his right sense will support APC if he/she isn't sitting at the table with with. They have destroyed Nigeria.

I pity those who have turned politics to ethnic jingoism fighting each other rather than hold their leaders accountable they turn it to Yoruba vs Ibo. While the criminal politicians focus on looting the country dry.

Clowns!
When imported rice with taste and quality you can be sure of is 50kg for bag & 25k for half.
Part of the reason the rice self sufficiency and imported rice ban failed is this same pricing issue.
With the ban and all incentives to cultivate rice in Nigeria, Nigerian rice was the same and even sometimes costlier than foreign rice, even after the rigours and expense it took to smuggle it in!
Why would anyone then buy a product whose quality was still not the best at the same price as one you are sure of the taste, quality and consistency?
This lagrice should have been pegged at 38k or max 40k for full bag and 19.or 20k for half.
In this way, some people would be encouraged to go for it because 10k or 5k difference is significant. You could use that savings to buy ingredients or even chicken

My question is what happened to the 8k we bought rice 8 yrs ago. To be fair, considering inflation a bag of rice should not sell above #20k. How can a bag of rice be almost double of minimum wage. Imagine buying this local rice @ #43k something most of us can't eat

Ethic? What does that mean, every geopolitical zone plants rice. Northerners are the only group that plant in commercial quantity, how does ethnicity come into this?

I remember someone wrote a piece about local rice on nairaland but as usual, people like you always want to act pouch, if you want foreign rice import directly and pay all the duties on it, don't expect us to open Nigeria border so you can start illegal wholesale business, or you think we don't know the reason for all this ass-licking of foreign rice?

Nigerian rice diesnt taste good. Lets focus on the cassava our geography is suited for, produce excess of it and export and use the excess funds to buy good rice. Abeg

Rice is a staple food for every home

Nigeria isn't producing enough for various reasons

Why should border not be open to supplement for the short fall

And let people have food to eat

What's rice production to nigeria economy growth, negligible

Even major cash crops which give multiple returns of income are not looked after

Well maybe you feel rice should be good for the rich politicians alone, others should be eating garri, fufu only

The bolded is exactly why I think you are a child, a 50kg roce is 43k that is less than 43 dollars, nobody needs to buy a bag, you can buy 25kg, besides at what price do you think the foreign rice will be if imported through the right source? Smuggling and corruption is what got us here, you want the border to reopen so you can destroy the economy completely.

Who told you we don't have enough rice I have friends in Benue, kogi, lokoja, with loads of rice looking for buyers.

Way back, my mum used to sell rice at 190, 200, 220 naira per bag.
How much was a bag of rice before PDP government in Nigeria?.
May it never be well with PDP and anymore who is part of that government.
It's easy to create problems and point an accusing fingers, anyone who's ever been a part of PDP government or their beneficiary will not end well.

Thank you God bless you, imagine if every state government produce rice for their civil servant, no they won't.
Their worthless citizens will come and cry in Lagos, while their useless state governments hide their dirty faces.
LASG get time they release the rice to the public, sell the rice to the civil servants and citizens who are into rice business.
