Terrorism will not be eradicated as long as security receives one of the highest budgets year on year.

If it stops, the budget reduces.

Which kind of mentality do you guys have ?

You truly believe terrorism will magically disappear if Nigerian military get peanuts as budgets ? The IQ of most Nigerians really baffle me.

The weapons and armory our forces uses are not cheap, our military suppose to have the highest budgets in Nigeria if we really want to eradicate terrorists and insecurities.

Do you know how much country like Germany, France, USA etc put in their military every year? even those that are not at war and manufacture most of their weapons and equipment.

Many of you claim our military forces are poorly equiped but don't want high budget for them and which sector truly deserve high budget more than our forces that put their lives on the line to defend the country. What you should be demanding is accountability not underfunding the military.

USA have one of the best forces in the world today because their military have the highest budgets.

Your mentality is that which should be questioned. You are comparing a superpowers budget and other countries with aggressive neighbours and that of Nigeria. Look at how Niger is decimating terrorists after people centric leadership came into power. Do you want to do a comparison of Niger’s military sending with Nigeria?

As USA is projecting strength world wide, you should also match their military spending percentage? You used ECA funds for the military you are spending billions year in year out. Funds that could have been used for economic and developmental initiatives which would in turn keep the populace productive and out of crime.

Yet there are no clear positive progress, next year, you still pump more money. You can’t keep doing things the same way and then expect different results.

but for leadership to declare national emergency, they rather lie all is under control....
Security got largest chunk of 2024 budget.

They are simply saying that the insecurity is a justification for the allocation of more resources.

But the underlying factors are still there.

Nigeria case is different even if you increase spending for security as high as d US it will end up corrupt official pockets as usual instead of been put to good use.
With all these big budget we can not even develop a drone that can locate & attack those BH/iswap in their hide out.
Iran an oil producing country like Nigeria even under sanctions can still develop home made weapons like drones & rockets.
Look at d warplanes in our inventories:alpha jets, tucanoes which are out of production & spare parts while countries like Algeria, Egypt,SA are using falcons & MIGs.

What necessitated the increase in budget allocation is the insecurity not what you think.

After all Nigeria still has one of the lowest security budget compare to South Africa, Egypt and Algeria who are not facing terrorism threat.

Most countries you mentioned are around highly volatile areas. They have paid their dues by investing in critical infrastructure, peaceful coexistence and economic growth. Their budget increase comes with modernization and welfare of their soldiers.

In your case you are increasing budget for the generals to loot, then import outdated tech at inflated price and still leave ragtag terrorists to rum amok. Nobody measures KPIs, nobody cares about progress, All other sectors are deteriorating and crying for funding.

What exactly is the budget increase accomplishing?
