Such staggering numbers

This is very true sha, it's an incurable addiction

the high unemployment rate is partly responsible, infact it has become a walk of life for some people.

Some Media houses now advertise the gambling business as well

Na true ooo....

And we have more and more persons joining the market daily.

I entered one of the supermarkets a certain day and overhead one of the attendants discussing with a cashier....

The attendant should probably be between 15 and 17 years of age, and he was telling the attendant that he placed a correct score bet 1-0 between two teams and it nearly entered.

When the cashier asked him what the team played, he replied 2-2 and the cashier burst out laughing. I just had to stiffle mine.

So apparently, the youngster doesn't even know how to bet and he has keyed into it notwithstanding, thus adding to the ever growing number of bettors in the country.

Oti poju!!

That's to tell you the level of poverty in the country. People have lost faith in Government as the economy has totally collapse.
They now see gambling as their last resort.

There's no millionaire who ever got rich by gambling. Gambling is a very regulated scheme to make the rich richer and the poor poorer.

The most painful part? Gambling is a highly addictive venture. That's why betting is highly regulated in many first world countries but in Nigeria, the poverty capital of the world, gambling is a get-rich-quick scheme for owners.

Sadly, even our celebrities take money in exchange for their endorsement of the evil scheme.

There is NOTHING noble in gambling.

Ordinary, large markets is one of the advantages of large vibrant population. Large markets should translate to large volumes of production, hence large exports. China exports even pencils and toothpicks, utilizing thier large population (enough cheap labour) But in my country, everything is upside down, insideout. Our Large population counts for nothing, it can't even be hannessed for anything.

What this statistic fail to mention is that gambling has also helped reduce crime.... Though not very significantly, but at least to a reasonable extent.....
This isn't to say I encourage gambling but see it this way...
I earn 200k plus monthly at my job.... But with 4500 some weeks back, I won 719k.....that's like 3 months salary.... With such money coming in at 6 times a year.... Crime no go hungry sensible person when no get big eye
