I hope Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu can read this story from the The New York Times, Especially the part which says, "In other provinces, the people have donned clothes". After reading this, would Mr Iwuanyanwu care to revisit his statement that Lagos was a swamp and was developed into what it is today by the Igbos?

For those who may want to argue, please read the story directly from the New York Times, on Monday, July 4, 1960, via this link https://www.nytimes.com/1960/07/04/archives/african-nudity-banned-nigerians-must-don-clothes-along-with.html

Reno, we will never give you any government appointment even if you hate Igbo till 2099. grin

You will remain a loud mouthed fool who insults other tribes to seek for your relevance.

Shame on your hopeless soul.

Reno is already suffering from dementia. How is donning clothes in the 60s related to developing swampy Lagos?

Reno is a fool
This kind of racist headline in racist USA should make any African cringe but this compound idiot is using it to chase clout.
Just look at the headline: African Nudity banned. And the first name on the body of the news is an European who is giving an order to Abakaliki residents to wear clothes. In order words, he's telling Africans what is good for them that they don't know.
Does he realise that US was still a deeply racist society in the 50s and that news might have been an outright lie or a misrepresentation?
I'm ashamed of Reno on this one

Always the victim

Its never their fault but others - constant victimhood

Makes everything about them.

Overly emotional.

Refuses to hold themselves to the standards they demand from others.

Constantly dragging irrelevant shit up from the past laced in a heavy dose of half truths to perpetuate their victimhood further while hiding their own ignoble faults and selfish evil agenda.

Has never built a civilisation nor a culture worth celebrating and emulating hence why Zionism and Jewish materialism holds sway amongst them. Those with proud cultures and heritages are mocked by them as "old fashioned and primitive" but deep down they are jealous of their betters.

Thinks deception and mind games are logic and reasoning even though their hubris and lies never go beyond their own circles , thereby proving that propaganda strikes those who deploy it more than the intended audience. Now they have a misguided population of young people who think they are victims and at the same time special chosen people .

Has an overinflated sense of self worth despite being more of a nuisance and a burden to the polity .

Shut up.

The fact remains that as late as 1960, people of SE were going about full buttnaked.

As for the New York Times , it has been the oldest liberal rag sheet and is owned by Jews.

If this was the Alabama Herald ,I would have said it must have been a racist trope article but this is the Jew York Times.

But they claim today that they were most civilized and developed everywhere.
Pride will not allow them to accept that they are at the bottom of the big Nigeria.

Slavery was still in effect up till the end of the civil war in 1970.

It continued with slight reforms after the civil war in the guise of the apprentice trade boy .

Everything those people say about themselves take it with a big bag of salt.

Seems Sóûth Easterners have punched above their weight after this election.
They are getting brutal replies, unlike the Hausa-Fulani who didn't bother to reply for 8 years straight.
They forgot that there are Yorûbas who canvased and voted Obi, they decide to insuIt the whole Yorûba now.

You are daft sir.

Let us assume for a moment that the story is true. Does Abakaliki represent the whole of Africa in anyway? Not to even mention the fact that Abakaliki was not a province but a division under Ogoja province. Moreso, all the provinces and regions were self-governing since 1957 so it's almost impossible for this order to have been given by a Briton in 1960 few months to independence.
So you see that when you lack understanding and knowledge, the white man will lie to you?
The news was syndicated from UPI whose owner also owned Birmingham Herald for your info.

For the dimwit below who is claiming provinces were created in 1959, here's Abakaliki from Wikipedia. Show me when it became a province

I was labelled anti Ibo for reminding them of their roots.

With the spike in micronationalism and minority rights agitation, that OGOJA province was split in 1959 ahead of Nigeria's attainment of independence, into the ABAKALIKI and OGOJA Provinces.

The New York Times piece clearly stated that in Abakileke Province which was located in the old eastern region, the colonial figures and local authority had placed an ultimatum that the natives most begin to put on clothes and not go stark naked on or before August 1st.

The article was specific about this nudist lifestyle being only in the then old eastern region and specifically mentioned Abakileke Province .

No where did the article say the whole of Nigeria or Africa rather the article even made the distinction that nudity was confined to the SE province of Abakileke.
