you are very correct iam from imo state, these two states are APC states, so there shouldn't be any surprises, , when we campaign against APC in our region this is the reason, they all behaves like Fulani goats

That's how stupid some of you are. When did Ebonyi and Imo become APC states? What wonderful things were they doing during the PDP years that they are no longer doing?

What wonderful things are happening in other Igbo states that still make Igbos to be migrating in thousands to other regions of Nigeria and the abroad?

If they are sure of the quality, let them export to African countries and Europe. They will earn more money especially with devaluation of naira.
They export to west African and central African countries.

Most Nigerians are also willing to pay extra if it's durable. They can produce for different classes of Nigerians who will pay according to what they can afford.
Very durable ones are usually produced on demand.

They actually do.
A friend of mine has a customer from Abidjan who comes periodically to buy a full truckload of shoes to transport and resell in Abidjan

They can produce depending on the quality you want.
If you place an order for a shoe made with better quality materials, they'll produce it for you

This is where government comes in to aid the back end and front end of the industry, to help them lower the cost of production and to help them penetrate markets beyond their present reach such that as we tour other nations for aid, credit and investment we can practically show them our potentials to work to produce and earn a decent living and to advance the industrialization of the country.

Substandard shoes.

So they said about Japanese products such as Toshiba and Toyota in the 60's and 70's in the face of Grundig and Volkswagen.

So they said about Samsung and Hyundai in the 80' and 90's

So they said about Chinese products just 20, 30 years ago. Today, no one is saying anything against them.

For there has been a meeting of minds. The Chinese have interacted with the world and raised standards accordingly across board while the world has gone broke and can no longer afford to buy sentiment.

Don't worry, you will get there.

Every product has a life span and a market for it. Shoes; no matter how expensive don't even have a long life span. And unless you don't have a need to wear shoes often, you must make a yearly or regular purchase. So, your analogy doesn't hold water.

A manufacter should have a product for different markets as not every Nigerian are obsessed with inferior goods. China, US and other European countries produce for different markets. Why should 'Aba made' be different?

Because we're black and nobody respects us. grin
When they make shoes in China or malasia or they package and put in boxes.
We here, PRESS AND FORCE everything inside nylon. Zero presentation/packaging.

Seriously, Western nations are the ones who created industries and industrial standards.
There is ISO9000 (9001) standard that basically implies that products must be 100% identical and follow 100% identical manufacturing processes.
Western nations follow these standards rigorously to produce everything. That's why you can call up Nokia or HP or Toyota customer service and they will either help you repair or send you a maintenance manual of the product you have and EVERY single screw they show in the manual will appear exactly like that in the real product in your hand.
But our great country Nigeria is very good at faking documents and certificates.
Companies without certifications will forge it and say they have.
Even president without document will forge it and say he has.
We aren't known for telling the truth or keeping to standards.
Today we do like this, tomorrow we do like that.

Indigenous made items can't be refer to as fake, they may not be at same quality or aesthetics as foreign ones, due to availability of raw material and equipment used

But they aren't fake

If you have the money for the foreign made ones, go buy it

Yes there's room for improvement of they learn and don't relent

But the problem with industry in nigeria is that they want to start today and compete with those who have been around for more than 5 decades

Each time I consider how Nigeria is dragging down Eastern Nigeria from reaching its potentials, I feel sad. Biafra would have been Africa's and Black people's first developed nation.

Biafra was already technologically advanced as at 1967 to 1970, when most of the world were still trying to find their feet.

Today, just take a trip to Nnewi, Aba and Onitsha and see the great exploits these Igbos are making. I keep saying it, these Igbos have everything that made the Asian Tigers great. What is happening in those cities I mentioned are exactly what happened in China, Taiwan and South Korea before they finally emerged as global power houses.

Instead of the foolish Nigerian governments to harness the skills of Igbos they choose to keep antagonizing them. I really don't blame Igbos for wanting Biafra. Nigeria has really been a huge stumbling block to their progress.
