A yet-to-be-identified female adult has been found dead in a hotel at Morogbo in the Badagry area of Lagos State.

PUNCH Metro gathered that the incident happened on Friday, November 31, after the deceased lodged into the hotel with a male partner.

Both guests were said to have arrived at the hotel in the morning of the said day and made payment for a short rest.

After some hours, the receptionist who was about to give out the room to another customer went to the room and found it locked.

A resident in the community who spoke to our correspondent on Wednesday said the hotel worker later used a spare key to open the door and thereafter found the lady lying on the bed motionless.

The resident, who craved anonymity due to the nature of the incident, said, “The two guests arrived at the hotel in the morning. After paying, they collected the key to their room and went inside. It was later around 10 pm when the hotel attendant wanted to give the room to another customer that they started to look for the key to the room.

“When they got there, they discovered it was locked. They also knocked but no one answered. They later banged on the door yet no one answered. They had to get a spare key and when the door was opened, only the female guest was found lying naked on the bed. Her body was covered with a bedspread. It was also discovered that her clothes and phone were taken away.”

The resident said the hotel owner was immediately alerted while the workers searched around for the whereabouts of the male guest.

All efforts to locate him were unsuccessful as their record was not taken by the receptionist when they first arrived.

“The hotel workers searched everywhere as they were also joined by some other persons in an attempt to locate the suspect. It was that same night that the director of the hotel went to report to the police. The police came that night, took pictures of the lady and took her body away. It was difficult to locate her partner because the receptionist did not take the record of the customers. The hotel also does not have a CCTV camera,” the resident added.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident.

He said, “The corpse has been deposited in the morgue. The owner of the hotel has been arrested along with the receptionist. The case will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department.”

He may have intentionally killed her and then to cover his tracks,he left with her phone and clothes.
If the lady died as a result of unforeseen circumstances due to underlying state of health, the man would be too frightened to even think of taking her phone and other personal effects.
These perilous times, ladies should be extra vigilant about where they go and who they go with.
And to think Christmas is 18 or less days away.

Hotels needs regulations, to them it's all about the money. 99 percent of hotels will accommodate guest without any identification as long as you can pay.

I will hold the hotel and its management responsible.
How could they give out a room to strangers without any form of identification and recording. At least the name of the person who paid for the room should’ve been recorded, check in time and check out time as well.

There should be strict regulations guiding the operations of this sort of business and venues. Every hotel reception must have cctv covering the entrance, the compound and reception.

Back then in the university, there was this guy opposite my room that brought a girl. He bleeped her for three hours and we were all hearing her moaning in our different rooms.

I thought she would die, and every occupants will be arrested if the guy took to his hill.
