The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has granted an order empowering the Rivers State House of Assembly to perform its constitutional functions undisturbed.

The Court also restrained the Rivers State Government, its agents or privies from withholding funds for the Assembly, disturbing the Assembly's Clerk & or Deputy Clerk or disrupting the functioning of the State House of Assembly.

The Rivers Assembly faction loyal to the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike sought the order of the Court after two previous decisions ordered both parties to maintain status quo.

On November 1, following a suit filed by the the Rivers Govt & Gov Sim Fubara against the Amaewhule-faction of the Rivers Assembly, the High Court in Isiokpo ordered both parties to maintain status quo. The suit has now been adjourned to December 20.

On November 21, a Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt issued an order directing the two factions in the Rivers State House of Assembly to maintain status quo ante bellum and suspend further deliberations until the matter before it is dispensed with. The suit was filed by factional Speaker, Ehie Edison.

A Federal High Court in Abuja has coordinate jurisdiction with a Federal High Court in Port Harcourt.

The one in PH already gave a pronouncement.

You are totally wrong,; the first judgement stands until a court of higher jurisdiction like the appellate court overules it.

If tinubu as gov of lagos hadnt made that smart move of asserting his authority in lagos ad leaders then, and put bucknor to the sword politically, do you think he'd have been where he is today as incumbent president? Tinubu knows how dangerous it is to pigeon hole a sitting gov. Didnt wike himself rebel against his own godfathers? What makes you think wike will not rebel against tinubu in the future. Rivers is just too volatile and its people are too restless to be controlled by a godfather.

No sir,that first judgment was Technicaly not a judgment.it said both sides should maintan status quo and status quo is wike faction continuing to control proceedings

The back bone Tinubu had then to be able to fight some leaders is the reason why he was successful. His late mother was a strong force, not to mention Baba Orelope and his men that mounted Alimosho LG for him. I don't think he goes this way fighting the assembly as well.

I see Fubara as a clown to start his fight as early as this. We knew how Fashola wage his war then, though he still later begged Asiwaju but having Lagosians on his side through his good jobs that Lagosians are happy with make Asiwaju soft pedder for him too.

I understand your point. We have a proverb in my place. When a man suddenly starts dancing on the street you wont know someone is beating the drums for him in the bush. Fubara and wike both know more than we do what the major obstacle to their reconciliation is. Like i said earlier, govs, especially from a state like rivers, shouldnt be joked with.
