Protesting women on Friday afternoon burned down the house of the District Head of Bokkos town in Bokkos Local Government Area of the state, Michal Monday Adanchi.

According to a source from the area, the incident occurred around 12:30am.

The source said the women burned the house following the arrest of some members of the community for their alleged involvement in the recent killings in the area, adding that the traditional ruler’s residence and his administrative office were burned down.

The incident began at the police station where they expressed their anger over the arrest of some members of the community. After leaving the police station, they proceeded to the house of the traditional ruler, protesting that he was a sellout. A few minutes after reaching the house, they set it ablaze,” the source said.

Our correspondent learnt that soldiers had arrived the area and dispersed the protesting women.

The spokesperson of the state police command, DSP Alabo Alfred, said he would call the DPO of the area and got back to our correspondent.

The state police command on Thursday confirmed the arrest of eight persons in connection with the recent attacks in Bokkos and Barikin Ladi LGAs.

Daily Trust reports that about 23 villages were attacked on the Eve of Christmas, where more than 150 people were killed and hundreds of houses razed.

probably the members of the community were falsely tagged as bandits who invaded the area or they were involved in a reprisal attack.

When strong and reasonable women are fed up with any system just know that system will never survive.

When I say strong and reasonable women I don't mean those women that accept that the creator of the universe is a male and that he has a begotten son instead of a daughter.

I mean those rare ones that will tell you boldly that if there is a creator of the universe anywhere, it's must be a woman. Those ones that will never associate themselves with any religion or book that relegates and discriminates against women. Those ones that will never accept that a man was created first before a woman without a concrete scientific proof.

Why persecute the bereaved?

You arrest the same people who were attacked on what grounds. That they are insiders in the heinous attack on their own people?

Once this spills, it will become difficult to contain it. These soldiers are insensitive. They killed these people, you didn't arrest the killers just for you to come and arrest the ones that survived.

The recent killings in plateau state is really unfortunate. Lot's of children being made orphans. The government isn't even doing anything about it.

About time...give these women AKs.and see bandits burn.
Sleeping in the comfort of your house and simply think about the palpable fear, apprehension and actual cruelty these people face.....God forbid.
Burn it all down....burn the whole state down.... there's nothing to lose.

Half-baked Journalists.

Do you observed that the name of the state was not mentioned, not even once, despite the journalist quoting "of the state" several times

Zoo republic or jungle republic, I don't know which one is more apt. What is happening today is as if we did a time travel back to 1820.

Plateau and other troubled parts of Nigeria will be liberated. People are now getting to know the root cause of the issues, and it's no different from what we have in Congo, Niger etc. It's all decoy for illegal mining of precious metals.
