The Yoruba people who today exist as peaceful loving people had long histories of internal wars. One of the most popular tribal wars in world history is the Kiriji or Ekiti-parapo War, lasting from 1877 to 1893.

It is considered the longest inter tribal war in the world.

This 16-year conflict, primarily between Ibadan and the combined forces of Ekiti and Ijesha, earned its onomatopoeic name "Kiriji" due to the thunderous cannons used by the Ekitis and Ijeshas under Ogedengbe's command.

Despite the advantage, the war ended in a stalemate, marking the conclusion of all wars in Yoruba land.

Remarkably, the Yoruba are the only ethnic group to engage in civil wars for 73 years (1820-1893) and still remain united as one tribe today.

The Yoruba were always fighting themselves, they were never one people, the Igbo also had an internal enemy group the Aro,who terrorised the Igbo for decades.the Hausa were enslaved by their own confidants the Fulani.

These major tribes have something wrong with them

Aro didn't terrorise anyone
It was confederacy

Great Empires like the Yoruba Empire,Roman Empire,China Empire etc fought amongst themselves too.It was the norms then.
The Yoruba Empire fought to extend its territory, fighting and taking over Dahomey as it's vassal state. It extended up to Ewe in Ghana etc.
The (Yoruba)Oyo Empire was one of the longest lasting Empires in Africa.Spannibg more than 500 years before it's decline.

It is a lie, most of the Yoruba wars were fought against Eastern Yoruba ( ijesha, ekiti,Akoko, even okun).
The wars were sponsored by Ibadan after the disintegration of oyo, mind you,oyo was never a powerful kingdom, the Nupe terrorised oyo and the Fulani eventually destroyed it's capital

The elites in Aro

Yorubas are by far the most sold in the slave trade by the Oyo kingdom

You are not sure. The Aros terrorised the Igbos and the other Riverine peoples for centuries. Till the British bombed their false god, Ibini Ukpabi, they used it to instil fear and sell thousands of fellow Igbos to the white man.

But I'll give it to the Aros for their ingenuity. Aros ruled the Antlantic ocean from the Equatorial coast up till the Caribbean. At a point they were practically the Kings in every corner of the present Eastern Nigeria and places like Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.

It was the Alaafin of Oyo that invited them to mediate after Dahomey had attacked Iseyin just one hour drive away from Oyo

Alaafin needed the Ibadan Army to Crush Dahomey but the Ibadan Army was busy fighting at Kiriji

Alaafin fully understood that Kiriji War couldn’t continue while Dahomey was trying to invade Yorubaland

It was the Alaafin who signed the Kiriji Peace Treaty on behalf of the Ibadan

Alaafin invited the Christian Missionaries to mediate and the Missionaries with permission from Alaafin brought in the British Governor of Lagos

Not only among themselves, they were fighting others too, especially oyo.

Ilorin fulani lost all their armies to oyo during the Èkìtì parapo war(thats after the osogbo war between fulani and oyo) , even sokoto was ransacked at some point

The British stopped the war else they'd have fought themselves to death.

Yorubas are united now to stand a chance to succeed in Nigeria considering the other two formidable major nationalities

U dey whine, nupe armies and oyo armies actually ransacked sokoto, that is what drew fulanis from what we call middle belts today where Nupes reside to core north.

And yes, Ilorin lost all their armies to oyo during ekiti parapo war, thats after they were seriously dealt with in osogbo war

Both Ogunmola and Oluyole were rulers of Ibadan at the Same time as being Basorun Oyo ( Alaafin’s Prime Minister)
