Atiku should also be fair to these guys. Abandoning them and staying in Dubai leaves them in a fix and scrambling for survival. Atiku has this bad habit of not keeping his core team after losing elections. When he lost in 2019, his campaign DG Gbenga Daniel was the first to decamp, and he is today a senator. He also lost Segun Sowunmi and employed clowns like Dino Melaye to run his campaign while leaving out Ben Bruce and Bukola Saraki.

With Atiku taking the backseat, any carrot dangled at his former campaign spokesmen cannot be resisted. If they call Don Pedro Obaseki, he'd jump at it because they were never convinced of Atiku.

Yea, you correct and I get your point. But this is different from the usual cross-carpeting. Party factions are normal everywhere even outside Nigeria. Disgruntled factions may even support other parties but due to strong ideologies, they don't switch sides. Majority of Nigeria politicians don't have any principle or ideology, that's why you see them jump ship all the time.

To contribute to your argument, Tinubu will never switch to another party if he had lost that primary. What he would do is destabilize APC and support other smaller parties. He may even support Atiku, Kwankwaso, or Obi depending on who offers better deals. But switch side to SDP? that won't happen.

You see what Wike did to PDP, thats what would have happened to APC if Tinubu lost the primary. Why didn't Tinubu leave APC when Saraki and Atiku did not allow him have the VP ticket? Tinubu is of course, power hungry. But, unlike most Nigerian politician, he does not lust after political positions. He understands the difference. No matter what, he will always maintain and solidify his power base even if he does not get presidential ticket.

Tinubu and many of the major players in Alliance for Democracy left the party and merged with other parties to form ACN in 2007.
