In Anambra: Angry Mob Attack ACTDA On Official Assignment In Awka.

Yesterday, January 15th 2024, Hoodlums, not less than fifty angry youths connived with petty traders to attack ACTDA officials on major enforcement exercise around the Awka Capital Territory.

It was observed that the hoodlums who were predominantly young men in their late twenties and thirties were seen carrying stones, bottles and sticks which they vextedly used to attack and threw at both the agency officials and men of the Nigeria Civil Defence Corp who were attached to agency officials to ensure law and order and a smooth and peaceful enforcement exercise.

Fortunately, the gallant men of NSDC overpowered the angry mob to create a safe and secured atmosphere for the ACTDA officials to carry out their duty which record a massive success as their first major enforcement exercise for the year 2024 as goods worth millions of naira were burn and completely destroyed to serve as a deterrent to others.

The area visited includes dual carriage Unizik-Isuaniocha Road, Club Road, Regina Ceali Road respectively.

Recall that the management of the Awka Capital Territory Development Authoriy (ACTDA) had earlier, repeatedly issued several warnings and given those erecting shanties and selling or displaying goods along the road in Awka and under the high tension enough time and opportunity to stop the unlawful activities that majorly contributes in defacing the aesthetics the Awka Capital City.

Despite several warnings from the authority, the defiant regrettably observed the resurface of street traders especially along the new roads constructed

The authority reaffirmed her relentless commitment towards continuos onslaught against the street traders who engage in the illegal act of displaying and marketing their goods at prohibited location, thereby causing obstruction and gridlock within the city.

They further warn those outlaws who engage in the illegal activities to desist forthwith and evacuate their goods or face a more daring consequences of their inactions.

Stop calling protesters hoodlums. When the people challenge any anti-people policies of the government by resisting, it is called democracy in action
