This nonsensical cosmetic approach will not work.

Tackle the fundamentals. They include

1. Systemic and endemic corruption. Imagine the billions used in settling retired military personnel, the judiciary, legislators. None of which added any productive value to the economy

2. Show example by buying made in Nigeria goods n services. From cars, to education, Medicare, etc.

3. Fix the refineries.

4. Fix Electricity.

5. Leverage on technology to create jobs in agriculture, FinTech n other sectors.

6. Provide low interest loans to SME. Let this money get to those who really need it.

7. Move the economy away from consumption based to that of production.

Etc.

Nigeria is going to borrow because we are reliant on oil.

The problem with oil dependency is simple. We need the oil price to be above 100dollars consistently, and even then, it won't be enough.

There is a cold reason why I don't like APC, PDP, and so on. Every election season, there is no plan to diversify the economy. Instead everyone talks about how we should share oil money, how we should fight corruption etc. These are ALL good things, and not wrong.

But , when the source of the income is always under threat from fluctuating oil prices? Result...loans.

Buhari took a lot of loans because oil prices were below 70 dollars for much of his regime. When oil prices rose to 100 dollars in 2021,,...most of that largesse went to paying off debts incurred from years of low oil prices. See, Buhari was a bad leader not because he took loans, but because he did nothing about increasing the amount of money made. Same problem with this tinubu government we have now.

I don't know, but until we see our government diversifying this economy, and improving our income, we are going to need more loans. I can't see this APC government doing so, and i cannot see the other parties doing so, and it is depressing.

Emefiele didn't need loans to maintained Naira at #400 to Dollar.

Today under Tinubu we are at #1,400 to Dollar after taking loans and looking to take more!
