Paraman:I agree with you... What who has the capacity to maintain it to standard? Considering a country where sport is not celebrated |

grandstar: You have made ZERO POINT. What is the REASON the stadium is under-utilised? There is NOTHING WRONG WITH THE STADIUM, and it is NOT the governmentâs job to organise sporting activities in the stadium. Or (Lord have mercy) music concerts for Wizkid. That is the job of the PRIVATE SECTOR, ie YOU. Do you see the US or British govt involved in sporting activities and keeping stadiums active? NO. Itâs all private sector driven. So WHAT EXACTLY are you complaining about beyond using some stupid example of an alleged encounter with a govt official after your graduation? The government has done its job and built a befitting national stadium in Abuja. What is YOUR JOB if not to utilise it? I see nothing in your post but pure aimless prejudice and bigotry against the govt. If that stadium in Abuja is inactive, it has NOTHING to do with the govt. It is YOUR FAULT for being useless. |

Nigerians have been weaned on politics by Oppositional mammaries. It's a national pastime indulged by all, means or no means. Had there been such a thing, no stadium built for the olympics of politics would suffer neglect. Every seating government henceforth need to teach Nigerians how to play again. They could start by investing in national ceremonies, beginning with institutionalising some of our cultural ceremonies. A commercial Durbar could feature annually for the paying crowds. Commercialised Masquerades too. Honouring ceremonies. Gladiatorial death matches featuring captured terrorists, Kidnappers and bandits. Stadiums would then find some use, not fall into disuse and eventually neglect. |

Litmus: You people need to decide if you are a capitalist nation or a communist one. What you are suggesting here is what communist nations like North Korea, China and Russia do - using state funds on frivolous, prestige activities after cornering national finances. Thatâs not the Nigerian system. This is a capitalist nation. In capitalist nations, these things you are saying are left to corporate and private entities to imagine and execute. The people you should be blaming are the Dangotes and Otedolas and INNOSONs and other rich private sector operators for not investing in sports activities etc. Govt has done itâs job by providing a $360 million stadium. USE IT! 1 Like |

$360million for that stadium is seriously overinflated scam contract, bunch of thieves. |
Re: Sowore Lambasts Govt For Abandoning $360m Stadium In Abuja, Leaving It To Rot by Topman7: 7:24pm On Jan 24 |
planetx: Oh please shut the hell up. Now the cost of the stadium is your problem? Is that why you are too lazy and unimaginative to use it? Professional finger pointers, moaners and groaners. Of course if YOU were in charge of the contract you would never take a âcutâ and enrich yourself. After all, arenât you all just SAINTS who wouldnât hurt a fly until you find yourselves in high office and your eyes see millions of dollars? Damn hypocrites. 1 Like |

Federal government cannot be renovating that stadium constantly when the stadium will only host less than 5 match in a year (if you too here say they use $1m renovate stadium in a year, u go shout). They need to give that stadium out to 2 NPFL team. The stadium will be there home ground and they should be responsible for maintenance of it. |

Topman7: My friend, don't resort to insults. I do not swing that way In my initial post, I said government should concession it i.e. hand it over to the private sector to manage it. That is the global best practice to achieve optimal use. |

Check what you typed, read it through and digest; then retype thereafter. In saner climes, stadia of more than 60 years are still sparkling. Why can't we emulate that! So we should keep building, let it dilapidate and build again after many years to open embezzlement channels. Google the Abuja National Stadium or go there to see the rot. I can help you with pictures when I have the time Topman7: |

Topman7: Thank you. Thought I was the only one patient enough to have this perspective. Sowore is just being a blabbering boob! That the stadium is currently not in use doesn't make it abandoned or dilapidated. Isn't it the same Moshood Abiola stadium that usually hosts political rallies, campaigns, celebrity events, etc? Idiot just waka go there one day begin snap grown grasses for fence-line come dey talk nonsense for social media. And trust typical nigerians to jump on the bandwagon without thinking things properly. |
