Vice President Kashim Shettima said corrupt governance was responsible for the crises of insecurity and banditry in the Northern part of the country.

Shettima stated at the 10th Annual Sir Ahmadu Bello Foundation lecture and award hosted by Borno State governor, Prof Babagana Umara Zulum in Maiduguri Saturday.

The vice president, represented by his special adviser on Political Affairs, Hakeem-Baba Ahmed, said Sardauna has left a legacy of accountability, fairness and probity, which the current leaders defied.

He identified corruption by leaders as one of the root causes of insecurity, saying, “The leader cannot engage in corruption if he wants to stand above the common thief, the bandit and the kidnapper.

Governor Babagana Umara Zulum, also blamed corruption as the reason why the country is not getting things right, while calling those in the position of leadership to provide good governance.

The guest speaker, Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Tijjani Muhammad-Bande, called on the policy makers to address abuse of power and insecurity challenges facing the country.

According to him, the reason why Sardauna is being glorified is the value of teamwork, resilience and commitment to the provision of qualitative education, agriculture, and infrastructural development.

The chairman of Northern Governors Forum, Governor Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya noted that good governance is the only way out of the insecurity in the region and the country as a whole.

Emeritus professor Umaru Shehu, Aisha Muhammed Nahuce, Professor Deborah Eniho and Adams David Baiki were among those that were awarded by the foundation.

The 11th Ahmadu Bello Memorial Lecture is to be hosted by Bauchi State in 2025.

Is it not morally wrong for any APC politician to talk about corruption with Gandollar as the APC National Chairman and a Bulaban as a President?

Festus Keyamo Defends Tinubu From Drug Trafficking, Says Tinubu Mistakenly Shared Flats With Drug Lords

The Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Mr Festus Keyamo, has distanced the All Progressive Congress presidential candidata, Bola Tinubu, from being a drug baron who was involved in the traffic of narcotics in the United States.

Keyamo, who also doubles as APC Presidential Campaign spokesperson, noted that the former governor of Lagos State only shared a block of flat with drug barons about 30 years ago in the US.

His reaction is coming following documents of a Chicago District Court indicting and convicting Tinubu of drug dealings and money laundering in 1993.

The document which emerged online two days ago, described APC standard-bearer as a drug baron, adding that Tinubu entered a plea bargain, leading to the forfeiture of his assets to US authorities in 1993

It was also pointed out that Tinubu forfeited the sum of $460, 000 dollars in his bank account at First Heritage Bank to the US government.

Speaking on Wednesday on Channels TV, Mr Keyamo dismissed such claims, insisting that Tinubu was linked to drug peddlers who were his neighbours.

He said: “What happened was that Tinubu went to open an account. The address which he used in opening the account was the address used by these people. I think some blocks of flats. Maybe, he was happy to be in that block of flats too.

“So, they now link it that the other people they were investigating for narcotics are in the same address used by Asiwaju to open that account.’’

What about the insecurity at your corridor, Abuja? Which mean you and Tinubu are most corrupt too and responsible for insecurity in Abuja because you're both not just corrupt but incompetent too.

Imagine, the president flying out of the country to France when Abuja is hot due to consistent kidnapping, and then tagged it private trip. What a useless, irresponsible and corrupt governance you both run.

Maybe soon you and Tinubu will be kidnapped too to know what the people are feeling since you are both insensitive to the plight of the electorate.

Not just APC or PDP or police or public servants... An average Nigerian man is corrupt...

I think it's the prolonged years of poverty... Nigerians have been poor since forever.
Re: Corrupt Governance Responsible For Insecurity, Banditry In North - Shettima by SlavaUkraini: 10:09am On Jan 28
It has little to do with corruption but with the religious beliefs of these terrorists...

99.9 % of all terrorists are Muslims..

So what is been fed into their minds in the Mosque ?

Jihad.... Terror.... Islamic state creation ... Killing infidels.... Banditry.... Suicide Bombings 💣 💣

Little wonder Postinor (The resident Nairaland terrorist) is now an existential threat to our peace and national security...

This Boy (Postinor) have been fed and brainwashed with so much nonsense during his head slamming sessions that he is now ready to volunteer himself and blow up himself in a train in Lagos and kill as many "Infidels" as possible

He has been told that 20 virgins will welcome him on the other side of life as his reward for been a suicide bomber and killing innocent people

What a Pathetic way to live and to end ones life...
