That recruitment exercise conducted by OAU Teaching hospital was a perfect racketeering for some staff of the institution and hospital management cos I personally went thru the rigorous process but was very surprised how I didn't make the final list despite making beyond the cut off mark yet those with lower marks were shortlisted.
Funny enough, do you know that we wrote the recruitment exam twice and it was CBT, yet the management decided to cancel the process because many of us who came from far and wide made it but their supposedly candidate could not pass the hurdle.

They had to reschedule for another week and I stayed back at Ife only to see that the second exam despite making the cut off point we were not shortlisted.
For everyone that participated in that recruitment process, we all know it was a sham process

On your first visit to a teaching or specialist hospital you must first see a just graduated medical doctor or a medical officer at best,they then give you an appointment for when a specialist can see you.
In Nigeria,even with our doctors challenge,it's even fairer at about 6weeks to 6 months.
In UK,where their specialist are "on ground",it may take you 6months to 2 years.
That's how the system operates worldwide and if you think you can stroll in to see a doctor,unless it's in a private setting where you must be able to afford it,then you are deluded

Health workers are not enough in the country, still sacking them.

Health workers as used here include the Admin staff, social workers, dietitians, drivers, security men, cleaners, etc, who are even far more thsn the real medical staffs.

There's no hospital in Nigeria that can sack 1500 medical staff(doctors, nurses, pharmacists, lab scientists, radiographers, physiotherapists).

Where will they even see the ones they'll sack?

This was the same hospital where they said many of the doctors have migrated to greener pastures and a whole department shut down.

Now let's imagine a scenario where there are non-clinical workers in that department. The management would have to do something drastic like LIFO. It's not sustainable to keep them in the system when they won't be able to work.

Invariably, the japa of highly skilled persons can ripple down on their colleagues. Especially in a situation where no one is available to take up their position.

❤❤❤ to those who lost their job. I strongly recommend that they move on by seeking for new jobs. It's not easy but it would make sense if the monthly salary owed them can be paid as severance.
