The University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan has reportedly rejected a sick newborn baby over the mother’s refusal to remove her #niqab (veil).

A nurse who spoke in Yoruba said the action was not carried out because of religious reasons but for security.

A lot was said in the video. please watch and share your views.

Do you think UCH Ibadan was right to do so?

Mtchewwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
Niqab koor, Nicki Minaj ni.
While we should respect other people's religion, people should understand that hospitals have rules. The man is trying to display his stupidity. Thank God the nurses had balls and rebuffed his silly gaslighting. Clown.

Small thing, religious extremists can start witch hunting the nurses and doctors. Anybody that tries to breed insurgency should be jailed for LIFE.

This is junk journalism

Even doctors working there have to remove ward coats and shoes and tuck their tie into their shirts before crossing the sacred white line marked on the floor at the entrance.

The babies there are very vulnerable and easily susceptible to infection hence the standard operating procedure for infection prevention and control.

Any attempt to sensationalize this news or give it religious coloration will be in bad taste.

So she didn't pity the sick child? what sort of mother is that? Is she truly the mother of the baby?. I cannot understand how a mother would reject hospital care for a sick baby, just because of niqab. Sounds crazyyy.

Trust me, I have seen worse!
That niqab is more like an heartbeat.
Asking them to remove it, is asking them to stop breathing!

The man purposely did the video because he has ulterior motive

Normal safety standard procedure in NICU. Aseptic conditions at the highest level.

But trust children of Mohammed. They must please the dead terrorist.

Those Nurses deserve a medal.

Doubt if you are being sarcastic, but she shouldn't have visited the hospital if Allah was that important. What Happened to sitting at home and wait for Allah to heal the child!

Clowns.

At least attend to the sick baby first, or what sorta Nurses are these? I guess they don't teach healthcare providers in Nigeria the Principle of non-maleficence/Do no harm because that's what she's indirectly doing.

grin Religion had blinded some people. If they have to perform critical examination on the baby, won't they still have to remove the niqab?

Health care has it own laws and guiding principles. For a system to work, order must be respected.

The mother is to also spend time with her baby inside the NICU as part of her baby's care team, so how would the nurses have spin that with the mother's insistence on her Niqah, bearing in mind there are other babies in that unit.?
