PH Refinery To Begin Operations As Shell Supplies 475,000 Barrels Of Oil by Islie: 11:38am On Feb 09

THE Port Harcourt Refinery is set to start operations following the supply of 475,000 barrels of crude oil by Shell Petroleum Development Company Limited.

The crude oil supply is the first to be made in the past few years, due mainly to the poor state of the plant, which called for the recent rehabilitation and testing to ensure readiness for sustainable operations.

Confirming the oil supply, Shell said: “This significant milestone was made possible through intensive preparations, collaboration and the dedication of the Bonny Oil and Gas Terminal, BOGT and Port Harcourt Refinery Company, PHRC teams.”

It stated that some activities, including pressure and leak testing to assure pipeline integrity by relevant subsidiaries of the NNPC Limited and integrity and maintenance activities on the Oil and Gas Terminal, BOT Refinery export pumps and associated instrumentations were carried out at the terminal through diligent efforts of the BOT operations and maintenance teams.

“The recommencement of crude oil supply from the Bonny Oil and Gas Terminal to Port Harcourt Refinery is a significant achievement and a game-changer for the industry and the country. The intensive preparations, collaboration and dedication of both teams involved were instrumental in overcoming challenges and ensuring a safe and efficient supply operation.

“This milestone will support the government’s aspiration of steady supply of petroleum products to the downstream market and other associated benefits to the economy of the nation,” Shell stated.

Already, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Ltd said it has fulfilled its pledge of achieving the mechanical completion of rehabilitation work on Area 5 Plant of the PHRC.

It stated that rehabilitation work has been ongoing at the Refinery for over two years and the NNPC Ltd. had pledged to complete Phase One of the project (mechanical completion and flare start-up) of Old Port Harcourt Refinery (Area 5) by 31st December 2023. Speaking during an inspection tour of the rehabilitation project, which also coincided with the 15th Refineries’ Rehabilitation Steering Committee Meeting, the Group Chief Executive Officer, NNPC Ltd., Mr. Mele Kyari, had said as of December 15th, 2023, 84.4% of Area 5 Plant, a key component of the Refinery, and 77.4% of the entire rehabilitation project has been completed.

For the past 6 months, set to start, set to start, set to start..

That means that when they say it has started, it will start for another 6 months before it will finally start.

NNPC better sell the fuel at a profit, if it wants to see that refinery work well. Which means that the APC government better let that happen.

The minute we NIgeria decided to sell fuel at a loss because subsidy, and put state control over the matter, was the day the refinery originally began to collapse.

Subsidy must go, and fuel price must increase so that the refinery can work, corruption would reduce and sabotage would reduce. Because how else do you stop sabotage and corruption? BY taking away subsidy and thus the free money that comes therein.

Once you remove subsidy totally, the only way money can be made is BY MAKING SUSTAINED YEAR IN AND YEAR OUT PROFIT. And that cannot happen with sabotage, and corruption...the thing would be rooted out straight.

But APC and Nigerians love cheap fuel. If Tinubu reduces fuel to 40 Naira per liter, there would be statues of him all over NIgeria set up, so that we can bring offerings of goats, cows and sheep and fruits...and burn incense (lol, just joking.).

(Sits back and waits for the usual 'You are an oppressor and a tinubu fan' crew to come and quote me, and the Tinubu has removed subsidy, you are lying crew' to join in... grin)

We will not believe until we see the first refined product.

Meanwhile to you all,
Learn to forgive. Do yourself that favour always.

Forgiveness is a demonstration of the nature of God. It is an act of obedience.
It involves you not thinking about the offence and just forgetting about whatever transpired. If you keep thinking about the issue, you will find it very difficult to forgive.

If you don't forgive, your heart and emotions will be caged and the person you are harbouring unforgiveness about will be walking freely and may not even be aware of your unforgiveness.

Forgive so God can also forgive you.

Matt.6.14 - "For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.

Well, Shell has said they have supplied, and the refinery has been under repairs, so they should be telling the truth this time....

For me, the real thing is simple....government should let that refinery work at a profit. Simple.

If govt wants this refinery to operate efficiently, let them invite private investors that can run it efficiently and ensure the staff work for their money instead of working with I don't care attitude.

is it because fuel was not being sold at a profit that made the refinery not to work well in years past and to eventually collapse?

was it subsidy that held down the price of the fuel that the refinery was selling?

how was subsidy free money r has the meaning of subsidy changed?

you seems to be giving new meaning to words in order to drive this your demented theories
