I hope FG increase their wage
But NEVER pay them for that idle 8 months that they succeeded in wasting students' irreversible time.

I graduated in 2004, and even at that time she would have needed 3 months salary. These people are underpaid. Lecturers and professors deserve better.

Again, US Dollars managed to creep into her admiring reflection and that's the start of it all. If all we transact in our country has to be facilitated or presented around foreign currency, then our own currency would definitely have a problem. May GOD help us.

MAY NIGERIA BE GREAT AGAIN.

creolehunt:

US Dollar is the currency of the tickets. So she has to sell her naira to get them

That's the genesis of the whole problem. The ticket was priced in dollars with naira equivalent furnished to the customer according to the black market rate. This highlight why some unnecessary pressure would be placed on insufficient dollars in circulation as some certain passengers who could get the dollars at cheaper price would end up paying in dollars to bring the expense to his/their advantage.
In as much as the airline operate here, the billing should strictly be in naira, all factors considered, so as to reduce the need for dollars to the importation of very essential elements/commodities the country needs for her daily operation(s). That would reduce dollars value and strenghten the naira.

I was also shocked to see the price.

I thought it couldn't be more than 500k, and I was thinking of going and spending a week until I saw the ticket price.

It's pathetic

As a professor of law who as been in practice for decades, and a SAN, she can't tell me that she relies solely on her salary for survival.

For starters she should have her own Chambers, with young lawyers working there. She's should use her position as a Prof to get closer to politicians so her Chambers can be contracted to represent them.

I still find it very difficult to believe that a woman of her status depends totally on her salary.
I don't think she is inferring she relies solely on her salary for survival. She's only using her official salary as a baseline to gauge how bad or expensive things has become which is the right thing to do.

We all use minimum wage of 30k as baseline when talking about commodities, it does not mean everyone that use that survive on only 30k

We rate professorship so much in Nigeria and I still can't understand why.

Professors are not nearly the highest paid in other advanced society.

My prorated pay as a lecturer is far less than if I was working full time in the industry in which I lecture.

Professors are very highly rated everywhere in the world and are very well remunerated in advanced societies too. I know because I've worked in the academia abroad.

Nobody is saying a Professor of Accounting should be paid as much as a bank CEO, but a Professor should definitely a competitive wage.

Apart from the basic salary she and others like to quote, our academicians earn varying other allowances that bump up their pay. That said, overall pay is still low in comparison. Tuition paid cannot properly fund University education including paying decent wages to University lecturers. I will say liberslise and commercialise University education, support exceptional indigent students with scholarships and other poor students with student loans so no one is denied access to quality education. That way, everyone benefits

That's about #436,500 per month or approximately #450,000.

Well she can actually go for a cheaper option of less than #600 by subbing 2gb of data to a network and streaming the match live.

Which site she wan go do am?

This is the unfortunate state of things in the country. How would one be motivated to teach in Nigeria when you will earn less than $500 a month at the very height of your career? This is absolutely nuts. Can't even wrap my head around it.
Nigerians are d problems of this country not d government cuz someone up there is trying to defend d government I see no reasonable person to defend this government

Nigeria is totally condemed. I don't think there is any way out. I don't see it getting better anytime soon.

It's not even about Tinubu, or Atiku or obi, it's about the system. If the system of governance in Nigeria is not changed or reformed. Things wld keep getting worse.

Have anyone noticed that the previous administration is always better in Nigeria. Things keep getting worse after each administration.

One consistent thing is the civil service at all levels.

Stop complaining proff. You and your colleagues rigged the politicians into power after collecting bribe in hard currency. Please, enjoy it. This should be your last complain. I don't want to entertain any form of complaints from the likes of you again. The hard currency you collected did not last forever. You are now complaining like ordinary Nigerian.
Wrubbish.

I have also worked abroad in the Academia. I get paid more working in the industry than teaching in that industry. Pay is also prorated, so if my lecture days are Monday and Friday, I get paid for working 2 days a week.

Not full pay for teaching 2 days a week, then still getting paid for working elsewhere. But in Nigeria there are lecturers that work in up to 3 places and still demand full time salaries from government.

All jobs are important and I get really tired when on profession tries to impose themselves as deserving more pay than other even more productive professionals.

Take her position on this issue for what it is. She never said she is broke or doesn't have other streams of income. She simply said her 5 month salary is what will shoulder such a trip comfortably.
Don't thrive on assumptions. That woman is richer than this
