It noted that headline inflation reached 27 percent year-on-year in October (food inflation 32 per cent), reflecting the effects of fuel subsidy removal, exchange rate depreciation

is it not the same IMF that has pressuring the Nigerian government to do away with subsidy and they are now complaining that removal of subsidy is causing inflation

Re: Nigeria Facing Worsening Economic Crisis, Says IMF by grandstar(m): 9:11am On Feb 12
where this government fails is that the CBN refuses to fight inflation by increasing interest rates

Secondly, its refusal to admit that the subsidy is back and simply fully deregulate the price.

Thirdly, electricity prices need to be deregulated asap

The government should also lift up protectionist walls against most goods. especially food.

Such blames don't come from official statement, it comes from unofficial sources, just like Biafran war, show me any official statement blaming the Igbos for it, but we get blamed for the Biafran war by Yoruba people, why was the word Yoruba ronnu used during endsars?

We wont fall for it again, we have tried....

Everybody has something to say about Nigeria economy but things are not getting better I think what we need now is prayer and spiritual intervention rather than Nigeria curse and lamentation
Your craze dey take sterioids!
Countries develop by implementing sound economic and social polices and following the rule of law, not by prayer. Get your head out of the clouds and into the REAL world

Is it because of imf and worldbank you can not manufacture mobile phones, cars, jets, quality wears, drugs and all you use? The problem of africa is laziness, looking for the witch to blame instead of working hard and finding practical solutions ourselves.
Imf and the world bank you call witches have been advising govt to stop subsidies since the 1980s, but no, nigerians wants everything free, today we are spending trillions on debt servicing, and producing next to nothing by ourselves.

Really sad. Tinubussss government is worse than Abacha
Very easy to believe. Did we not all see the campaigns? Why is anybody acting surprised now? Did Tinubu make a SINGLE sensible comment during the campaign? As usual Nigerians seem to think they can vote for incompetents based on primordial sentiments of tribe and religion, and somehow, those same incompetents will favour them. We are our own worst enemies

The religiously brainwashed north was there in 2015 and we were doing well. The sort of bad government introduced since then is worse than criminal, it is satanic.

In summary, the IMF is asking Tinubu to increase government revenue by increasing existing taxes and introducing new ones? I'm asking because that's I infer from their comment about Nigeria having a low revenue to debt ratio.
Lol We may call the IMF evil, mean, inhumane etc but one thing I know they aren't is hypocritical. The IMF through out all times have never failed to give our leaders the same old wicked advice; remove subsidy, increase tax. The western countries that run the IMF don't follow that advice. Whenever there is a recession in Europe, the governments give unemployment benefits to their people, and council houses to their citizens who can't pay for accomodation. But to us, they advice us to withdraw such things, and in the midst of massive job losses, they always advice that we increase taxes. Quite strangely, our leaders never ever fail to follow that advice.

Tinubu and his supporters are playing with the sensibilities of Nigerians. The suffering will soon push people to fight back soon.

The IMF loan we're talking about here, was it Tinubu that incurred it? Or you want Tinubu to leave it without servicing it? Let's know exactly what you want.

I thought I'm the only one that have noticed the pattern, these same institutions destroyed the Nigerian economy through the structural adjustment program (SAP) in the 90's and are doing the same thing now while our leaders fails to think.

Do they want Africa nations to grow? They would say taxes would not allow development to take place. You now begin to wonder why UK use the weapon of taxes to run her economy. All the taxes you can think of comes from there. It's a case of double standard.

APC is a contraption which should not have been allowed to form a government at all, they are behaving like the biblical thief that come to steal, to destroy and kill. this is their second government and these are the only dividend they are capable of giving
Previous governments will look for and scout for competent hands and technocrats from around the world to assist them but APC government will bring cronies and incompetent party members friends and sycophantic supporters who do not have anything to offer, good governance is not the priority of APC from buhari to Tinubu, their agenda is to enjoy the spoils of office travel the world, the masses can go to hell
The APC is not a party Nigerians should accommodate henceforth
In all these, I blame Jonathan, the clueless man for allowing these hungry people into power. I'd have locked them up or sent them on exile during that protest. He had all the power but so clueless and weak. So unfortunate. They're even doing worse today, about things they protested against when GEJ was in office and everyone is just keeping quiet, suffering and smiling. Every future politician must take a lesson from Jonathan's weakness. Time never reach to react by the masses. People are facing a lot
