In today's Nigeria, when it comes to the issues of Insecurities (Banditry), most of the police men are equals to or less than the civilians. Is like they are not going under any training before they are employed. The only thing they can do best is collecting bribes on the roads or when civil case is report to them.

Without proper training, equipment and strong measures to brought the corrupt ones to the book even if L.G police will be created, Nigerian police can't tackles any Insecurities.
In my own opinion, the police is even more effective against the bandits than the army.

They should, their allocation has been increased by 40% recently

Its a great idea but considering State Governors, State police will become a tool of oppression in their respective states. No one will dare speak up against the governor or else! How about elections? Na state police go dey snatch ballot box for governor and his cronies. The state police willl turn out to be far from what they were established to be. No be Nigeria again?

I read the Ministry of Power saying Nigeria is subsiding Power with 450 billion every month,I expect Asiwaju to push a bill to the National Assembly and allow all the states in Nigeria generate and distribute power, Asiwaju should use the excuse of removing the Power subsidy to give power licenses to all the states.
..
The power sector was decentralized under Buhari in 2022. States can generate, transmit and distribute light now

State police without fiscal restructuring is an effort in futility.

That is one leg od it. The other leg is to allow private security force.

This we can be sure of efficient services. Jonathan used South African private security outfit to get more result.

That may be prone to espionage but local forces can take care of that

Which of the private security did Jonathan use to get results? though we know the issue of insecurity in Nigeria is politically motivated and i believe now it cannot be controlled even by the same motivator, During Jonathan when no Nigerian banks were saved, it turned the other way around during PMB where you are not even saved to travel. maybe if they start attacking Senators, REps and leave the poor ones alone their brains will reset. I agree. without enough funding from the state government, the state police will be worst than their federal counterpart

The company is called sitrep or something like that sha. I can't remember the private security name but it's a South African private security firm. They fought in the north east during Jonathan tenure.

Re: FG, States Are Considering The Creation Of State Police by Dsimmer: 6:15pm On Feb 15
Good move.

Meanwhile, Some projects can also be started amidst all the corruption perpetuated by the last administration. The easier way to start these projects is by viewing it through the lens of 6 geopolitical regional zone while enumerating these projects such as:

1. Electricity power plants.
2. Agricultural revolution which involves the combination of mechanised farming and agro industries.
3. Livestock farming which involves modern ranches and its agro product industries.
4. Mineral industrialization.
5. More Roads construction.

1. First project which is electricity power plants. Ensure one electricity power plant is built in each of the 6 geopolitical regions. That's like 6 electricity power plants projects to be invested in. However, two electricity power plants can be built in a region that have few electricity power plants to begin with.

2. Second project is more agriculture project. Ensure in the investment of at least 2 agriculture projects which involves the combination of both mechanised farming and agro industry are sited in each of the 6 geopolitical regions. That's about 12 agriculture projects to be invested in, according to the 6 geopolitical regions.

3. Livestock farming project. Ensure one modern ranch combined with its agro product industry, such as milk, leather etc) is sited in each of the 6 geopolitical region. The indigents of each geopolitical zones will be employed in it. That's about 6 modern ranches according to the 6 geopolitical regions. However, Two ranches can be sited in the North Central middle belt region. Apart from helping the economy, These ranches will also help to curb insecurity because every region have their own ranches hence any useless idiot trespassing will be easily dealt with.

4. Mineral industrialization. Look into the mineral resources available in each geopolitical region and invest in the building of the mineral processing industries for the minerals.

5. More road constructions. In fact, the known reputable construction companies should be simply called and given these road projects with the cost already provided by these reputable construction company, instead of dabbling around with politicians who would add their own looted money to it.

6. Refineries which is also under the mineral industrialization project. Privatise the old refineries and invest in new ones, including modular refineries.

If Tinubu can set all these projects (electricity, agriculture etc) in motions in all the 6 geopolitical regions, these fruitful projects are going to help the economy on the long run.

After these projects are set in motion, Tinubu should continue to fight against the corruption perpetuated by the last Buhari administration, as well as corrupt bank CEO hoarding dollars and selling to aboki and also perpetuating corruption. Also any present ministers and politicians doing nothing tangible while perpetuating corruption.

Thank you, but we did not see the result, Nigeria is not safe, and you are not free to move, i pray God save us but actions and plans do speak because God will not come from Heaven. there are some places common of kidnappers, govt should focus on all this places, how will a soldier checking point be inside a community and there will be many kidnappings in such area, i mean the GUO bus that the driver was killed in a couple of days ago

Fiscal federalism should actually precede this discussion of state police..

Let the federating states generate their own funds and grow at its own pace. Any cost centre that can't generate it funds isn't supposed to exist in the first place.

Re: FG, States Are Considering The Creation Of State Police by MasterTeeUSA: 6:34pm On Feb 15
That is one of the problems I highlighted to someone...as it is...well let them deal with it and let the people hold the Govs responsible. They should use part of their security votes. Govs have chosen to become useless blaming the Feds for everything. They could have created intelligence network, and funded technology like drones to support Federal Police...and train civilians. Everything...is Fed Fed Fed...where is their control system and control units to safeguard their states.

Go and ask those south western states funding anotekun with nice kits and constantly fuelled vans and dane guns, same security outfit the critics once said won't last a year due to underfunding.

It's not a rocket science. But our corrupt leaders wouldn't like it

We should don't fear about how governors will misused power over it like we have state high courts and we have federal high courts and we also have magistrate courts which we assume that we have federal police with black colours,,, state police with green colors and local police with red ♥️ colours

Is it your state police?let the owners of the state police worry about that or better still, propose a better option instead of always condemning what others have used their brain to create.
SoNature:
No state police without total resource control by states. Most states cannot even pay civil servants without federal allocations let alone asking them to add the police to their payroll.
Re: FG, States Are Considering The Creation Of State Police by netmillionaires(m): 7:07pm On Feb 15
My recommendation is for states to have their police force enforcing order in their respective states while contributing an equal number of men to the federal police. The federal police would serve the role of observer. For example, each state can decide to have a 50000-member police force depending on the state's capacity. Each state will then contribute 3600 men each to the federal police from these number. So in all, we will have 3600x37 federal police. Each state will have 100 of its men in the federal police sent to each state of the federation. Their role will be to observe how each state uses or misuses its police force. This is to guard against some region trying to fill the federal police with their men... If a state police force is romancing with book haram. The men in the federal police will be aware and report the situation to their superiors in their respective state. Etc

Nobody condemned anything. Experts have repeatedly maintained that state police cannot work in Nigeria if state governors don't have enough resources. Hence, everyone should control their resources and pay taxes to the centre
