My recommendation is for states to have their police force enforcing order in their respective states while contributing an equal number of men to the federal police. The federal police would serve the role of observer. For example, each state can decide to have a 50000-member police force depending on the state's capacity. Each state will then contribute 3600 men each to the federal police from these number. So in all, we will have 3600x37 federal police. Each state will have 100 of its men in the federal police sent to each state of the federation. Their role will be to observe how each state uses or misuses its police force. This is to guard against some region trying to fill the federal police with their men... If a state police force is romancing with book haram. The men in the federal police will be aware and report the situation to their superiors in their respective state. Etc Skyehigher1: |

Any state that can’t fund its police force should borrow from the federal police till they are ready. What we need to iron out is the control procedures |

In my own opinion, State police will still be under federal government. Federal Government will be the one controlling state police and also be the one to pay their salary. Congratulations 🎉 to Amotekun in Western Nigeria. |

festacman: Nigeria's economy has been collapsing since the 1980s; subsidies have been keeping Nigeria afloat. State police will ensure state can protect the people. |

sulaak: FGN and state governments struggle to pay salaries presently because less revenues are earned. Current national police is poorly equipped and remunerated. Now, how will state governments across the federation fund state police to function effectively in addition to existing recurrent expenditures and infrastructural development? |
Re: FG, States Are Considering The Creation Of State Police by sulaak(m): 3:10am On Feb 16 |
festacman: If a state cannot fund a civil responsibility such as a state police, it should not be called a state. Nigerians cannot continue living naked while they are being killed. A federal republic MUST be a viable state that can operate local and state service services such as state police. It will reduce the threat of bullying by the federal government's security architecture and the limitation of the federal police that is based on and controlled by the president. |

Herkim:Federal government can never allow state government to take control of state police because they will used them in their own advantages. Listen, they will still be under federal government despite that they are called state police. Same thing happened in other countries. |

The FG will need to increase the allocations to the states since FG will no longer have its own police. So the allocation of FG police will be distributed to the states who now shoulder that responsibility of policing. Paraman: |

What we need is Local Police and not State Police. Differences between the two are; A state police would have inhabitants of a state in the police. As the state governor will control it. But a local police will comprise of the indigenes of the state ONLY who'd be ready to lay their lives for the protection of their wives, children and relatives |
