Why is it so difficult to get rid of Dommicilary accounts, and parallel market? Politicians dnt give a famn about fx cards, the banks will simple not sell to normal travelers but to Bdc's, so the free fall will continue |

KarlTom:Are you sure? When have you heard of anyone you know personally buying bta? Back 2022, dollar was 700-730 in blackmarket. Bta in Bank was 440-460. You then applied through the cbn site for bta of which you could buy each quarter yearly. Yeah it made sense as the difference between official and blackmarket was about ₦300. Early 2023, cbn rate then merged with blackmarket, all became ₦700. What was then the point of applying through cbn for bta? Don't forget you will also pay bank charges. At the end of the day, it only made sense to just go to blackmarket. Infact, me personally abandoned my last application for $4k. As far as CBN rate is merged with blackmarket, you loose money buying bta. |

But how does this affect the demand for the dollar.whether it's been held physically or in electronic form.I think this will have little effect on the dollar rising.I think the main problem is we have to much naira in the system.Buhari printed to much naira which we need to mop out of the system. |

Hmmm, this will be the final kick to kill Nigeria because what's out backup strength to issue credit card in BTA/PTA? How do we settle foreign banks when we don't have the foreign reserve? |
Re: CBN Discontinues Payment Of BTA/PTA In Cash by yemmit90: 8:55pm On Feb 15 |
Timmi: The problem is not about selling but ability of those buying to withdraw in cash and sell to BDC at higher rate. Once you are unable to withdraw Dollar notes over the counter here in Nigeria, there is no way you would be able to sell to BDC at higher rate. The only option left for you is to withdraw it in your destination countries. 4 Likes |

If you've got a domiciliary account, close it now and fly its content somewhere else. The government won't steal it but expect the naira value of your dollar in the neighbourhood of shipwreck. |

I watched the CBN Governor on Channels TV last week, he said CBN had over 7 Billion dollars backlog when he assumed office and he got Deloitte to audit the backlog which reduced it to 5 billon dollars while 2 billion dollars was unaccounted for, and some people did not need the dollar but for personal gain. So, the CBN has paid 2.6 billion promising to clear the balance of 2.4 billion soon. Nigerians are problem of Nigeria, I keep saying it. What is obvious in this administration is that the guys at the helms of affairs are mostly rich guys including the president, coming up with the policies that will hunt the rich and self centered guys might not be too hard. The ministry of information should do well by educating Nigerians on their moves to erode propagandas and we all should reduce our request for international goods and services except for raw materials. Way to Go. The level of corruption, sabotage and stealing going on with that BTA/PTA of a thing even by business people and bank branch officials... You will be surprised. These bank officials take these BTA/PTA through proxies and go ahead to sell it at black market rates making instant millions without lifting a fingers. Also business owners, will line up the passports of their employees to a corrupt bank officials who will apply for 5k USD at bank rate for each employees. They will now sell it at black market making a profit of over 12-15million within a twinkle of an eye while the country currency value suffers. The same corrupt bank officials will quickly turn back any random customer who wants to withdraw USD over the counter because they already plan to sell to their cronies. Infact, Nigeria's Naira issue is caused by many factors. Both visible, direct, indirect, vertical, horizontal and invisible factors. God bless the Country 1 Like |
