There are certain goods and services the government needs to control the prices of so that they remain affordable to majority of the masses i.e. petrol, diesel, bread,cooking gas,bread,food items in times of crisis,beer etc. That is the reason for the consumer protection agency. Government has no business setting the price of goods and services, you cannot price what you don't produce, they have been unable to get the price of Naira vs Dollar right and they want to venture into consumer goods pricing
