‘I’m on the verge of losing my son!’ Germany-based Nigerian lady cries out over his difficult, unruly adolescent son

A Nigerian lady living in Germany has taken to social media to seek advice on how to handle her difficult adolescent son she just brought over to Europe to live with her.

According to the lady with the moniker, Aladeenitan, she left the boy when he was only three years old to emigrate to Germany where she has been living since then.

She recently went to Nigeria to bring him to Germany when he turned 16. He has barely spent 5 months in Germany.

Enitan complained that the boy did not want to do anything other than play with his phone from morning till night.

According to her, the boy would not even do assignments given to him in class. Neither would he help her with the house chores.

She narrated that the latest incident that caused a major rift between them was that she asked him to wash his own clothes with the machine and clean the living room after she had washed two batches of clothes and cleaned the rest of the house.

Enitan said her son refused to do any of the chores and instead went to sleep.

When she ordered the boy to go for a stroll as a punishment, the boy reportedly went to the police to report his mother that she was stressing his life and that he wanted to return to Nigeria.

The police reportedly told him it was not part of their job and referred him to an agency saddled with such duties.

According to Enitan, her son actually went in search of the address and only returned home after he was unable to trace it.

“I searched for him everywhere in panic only to return home in frustration to find him at home. She said the boy had the effrontery to hand over the address to her and told her to help him find the agency or contact them with his request to return to Nigeria.

Enitan said all her family members pleaded with him to change his mind, but he refused, insisting that he loved life better in Nigeria where he had many friends who were urging him to return.

According to her, the boy begged him to allow him to go back to Nigeria with his phone and a speaker she bought for him to further his interest in music.

But the aggrieved mother fears that she may lose the son forever if he returns to Nigeria, especially as it appears he does not love her any longer after she had left him in Nigeria for so long to hustle in Europe.

She said she gave the son the best life, sending him to private primary and secondary school in Nigeria before bringing him to Germany.

She broke down in tears at a point in her narration, explaining that she had tried her best for her son and expected him to love her in return.

She is afraid that the boy may get her in trouble with the authorities in Germany with his attitude.

She called for advice from those with adolescent boys who have similar experiences.

Why is always good to be resetting your kids often!

In the quest to become western, your son has grown wings and now has the effrontery and audacity to make demands.

Team “talk to the child” will be here soon to say, you need to talk sense into the child.

A kid that adequate slap would have fine tuned his brains.

Managing an adolescent in the Western world is one of the most difficult things to do in the world. It is a difficult task in any part of the world, right. But in the Western world, it is worse, because you cannot even properly discipline him without the police visiting you. Those japa-in with teenagers and younger children have a lot of work ahead of them.

Please send him back to Nigeria.

Youthful exuberance still commands the better part of him.

By the time the present day naija finishes with him, he will be the one begging to be brought back like the prodigal son.

And please, don't pamper him while he's back in Nigeria by sending him euros . You will end up losing him for good.

It’s not difficult at all!

Parents are the one losing it in the quest to act western. Discipline has been abolished and they would rather talk to the child than making him face grave consequences.

When you don’t nip their wings when you have to, you will have yourself to blame at the end of the day.

The boy sees her as nagging him to stupor! Teenagers detest nagging mums with passion!

What of when the child is difficult like this one? Won't serve punishment given to him, talk back to his mother and rush to the authorities when you simply smack him on the wrist?

That’s my point. The child has grown wings already. The mother is paying the price.

I wonder why stories like this don't come from people actually on naira land.. So is it until the boy disgraces and shames you and all your hard work you put into getting to the level you're today before you'll realise that you're supposed to throw that boy back to nigeria. Na only born pikin for this world about? Na only you don dey Europe dey struggle while your kids are here in nigeria. Send that boy back and if he gets unruly and over bearing when he gets back to nigeria, drop him immediately. It's better you channel those funds to orphanages and child care foundations... People who'll pray for you than a useless child who has no appreciation for what you do for him as a mother..
If you like add sentimentality into this issue... Only you will bear the consequences... What's my own... This is just another story to read when I'm bored

It's so emotional, obviously the boy has no connection with his mom and he may have involved himself in deep shady things in Nigeria. He may be a yahoo boy.

No bond between them at all. The boy clearly resents his mother and sees her as a distant Aunt.

Why would a mother leave her 3 years old son and return to pick him at 16 years?

Where you wan start from? Honestly, I don't think they can ever bond again. Whether you send him back to Naija or not, it makes no difference.

Any Japa wey no factor in your family, na rubbish. Money is not everything.

An opportunity where he is abandoned @ 3. Lets not allow sapa becloud our Judgement pls. A son that sees hus mum as a stranger is the one you are calling opportunity. He has probably lived his life without anyone telling him what to do, then all of a sudden a long lost mother is asking him to perform house chores. Put yourself in his shoes.

May not be youthful exuberance. Our kids pass through alot in UK and Europe especially in schools. Most are being bullied and picked on by gangs and are social outcasts. It's really bad and the way they try to cope is by forming gangs of kids their race so they can feel at home but even that has its disadvantages. That's how they pick up using drugs and substance abuse. It's not really fair to yank a 16yr old out of the life he knows and transplant to a totally different society where they are hated for no reason. If he wants to go home so bad, let him. When he finishes school and appreciates the need to relocate, he will use his mouth to ask for it. If she forces him to remain, she will still loose him anyway...

she should send him back to naija n no more money for him. and he's not going back with the phone n speaker.
but honestly, she should have known the boy wasn't interested in going to Germany..
he got to Germany n then realised how lonely it was for him.

This is where fatherhood plays a vital role. Unfortunately some men just see themselves as sperm donor and not fathers.
Bundle the nuisance back to Nigeria please before he puts you into trouble. He should remain in Nigeria till he's sensible enough to know what life is all about
