I DO NOT AGREE ...SOME PERSONS WITH QUESTIONABLE WEALTH ARE BUYING UP THE AVAILABLE DOLLARS. THESE ARE NOT BIZMEN NOR STUDENTS PARENTS. THE PRESIDENT MUST HOLD BACK THE EXTRA REVENUE BEING PAID TO THE GOVERNORS/

The thing is, those same people were buying it up years ago, when we had high enough income from oil that it did not matter. No one complained. Enough dollars going round. Not like today.

At the end, we have too low forex reserves, for CBN to intervene. This is not ten years ago, when we had enough in the piggy bank to throw 5billion dollars in one month to defend the naira.

High school economics will tell you banning a product when the demand is high will result.in higher prices because demand will always create supply. Countries like Zimbabwe, Venezuela had tried to bad foreign currencies and failed woefully.
Nigeria and our people must accept the reality and the true value of our currency. The idea of having a strong when we produce nothing is the beginning of hyperinflation. A weaker local currency while we produce lots of good is an highway to development. China is a perfect example

tollyboy5:

It's very simple. The money is coming from CBN.
Ban all bdc operators and people should get dollar from banks direct.

No too much Grammer is needed. If them need too much Grammer then we enter the street and scatter the con3, make everything Kuku scatter na im better pass.

BDC should be banned

tinubu prints trillions monthly -- tinubu gives his officials lots of it monthly for jaye jaye

these excess naira find their way to the black market to convert to forex

forex is in limited supply - excess naira printed by tinubu is chasing the limited forex

naira keeps dying - forex keeps rising - result is the what you are now complaining about ..

what is here that i typed that is too hard to understand?

OChimex:

Tinibu supporters, ApC supporters and their govt think the same, honestly.

What determines the price of goods and services are forces of demand and supply. Arresting bdc operators won't solve the problem, rather it will make it worse just like locking up people's shops because they sell high prices.
Deal with the problem at the root, and you see this situations calms on its own.
Reduce pressure on foreign currencies by producing more and reducing imports. Earn more dollar by exporting more, then the bdc will have more supply than demands and it will crash the price
Thrash, there is a percentage difference that ought to be between parallel and official rate but this bdc don't follow due order

Tolly, you need to understand the dynamics of how that market plays. There will always be arbitrage where the players in BDC and Parallel will be able to play. That market is controlled by people from a certain region and will definitely not watch it been crushed
There should be a maximum percentage bdc should add to get profit. What they add is too much

But Naira is at N2,060 to the GBP today. Let's enjoy APC with its goodies. APC supporters were told earlier; right from 2015 that the alliance of Tinubu and Buhari is not good for Nigeria.

There's only one solution to the currency crisis - FLOAT THE NAIRA, complete float, no side rules here and there, just a complete and unfettered float where the CBN participates on the same level as any other individual. That's how the currencies of prosperous developed nations are managed.

Good Luck to Nigeria.
