Straighttime:

Just as other tribes from south west states living in Lagos are immigrants. Even the present governor and Tinubu are immigrants.

They don’t claim to be from Lagos despite that they are the same ethnicity only the chimps from east do.

Ah yes the “tribalism” word again. Continue your British puppetry. We YORUBAS are our own ethnic group. We have never been the same people. In the usa you see Indians as Indians Chinese Korean etc but when we say Yoruba Igbos start crying everywhere

Speaking yoruba doesn't make you a Lagosian. Living in Lagos makes you a Lagosian.
Londoners and Americans are people living those places not necessarily natives.

Now a native American or a native Londoner or a native Lagosian born in anywhere else from their home state is still an American or Londoner or Lagosian

The correct term is anyone can be a Lagos Resident

For example a SE person may describe himself as an Omo Ibadan if he was born and raised there but in reality he is not a real Omo Ibadan by ancestry but he is a Long term Ibadan Resident.

Another example ,4th generation SW people living in Kaduna cannot call themselves Kaduna Indigenes but long term Kaduna Residents
