My point remains, irrespective of funding, we as a people can do better, and I stand by my words Teaching Hospitals are not for emergencies.

Did you just say regardless of funding, without funding what can people do better ?? what can medical personnels do better without required tools and facilities .. emotions aside lets be realistic

Just castigating and condemning the Teaching hospitals is not the only way forward ... we need to turn on the govt to make Health care a "priority" and allocate better funds that will facilitate better service. those doctors & nurses are human tew sometimes they feel pained & useless but sometimes they mask it with cold attitude, i can remember the day a boy died after 6months in ICU we all cried that day .. i saw doctors cry that boy was loved by all but what can they really do when equipment are not adequate

IF Govt take health care seriously in these country, maybe we won't be having traumatic experiences at the hospitals

A very good private Hospital with trauma specialist would have been better. So sad to lose such a life cheaply. Imagine thousands of similar situations across Nigeria. I doubt teaching hospitals in Nigeria know what to do when it comes to brain injuries. I lost an aunt same way, meanwhile one teaching hospital in Lagos was asking for hundreds of thousands of naira just to admit her. It's pretty much obvious now that they take the money and do nothing. You kukuma cannot ask for refund when the patient dies.

He couldn't be moved out in that condition without stabilizing him first. That was why they were in LUTH in the first place. Just to stabilize him
chidiokay:

You can't fly a patient if he or she is not stabilized, that is a standard protocol anywhere not shenanigans smiley

I guess they were stabilizing him for almost 10 days? His condition was critical but certainly stable enough to be flown out in the right conditions.

Secondly, there's nothing like 'he can't be moved or can't fly'. A patient can at anytime, request a transfer if not satisfied with the level of care at any hospital. If the patient is incapacitated, the family can do it.

All the wife needed to do was get a Critical Care Transfer Team ready to fly him back to the US under Intensive Care, and the hospital would comply. Within 24 hours, he would have returned. Maybe she was worried about costs. Neurosurgery is way too risky to trust people who did not have the right things in place.

Lots of people to put the blame on. The hospital for being lethargic, the wife for allowing the mediocrity to continue, the family for continuing to pay exorbitant amounts even though no proper care was given, and even the man sef for falling on top stair case.

Man got shine him eyes wella even when walking.
Last last, na "God giveth and taketh" na im dem go tell the mourners. See whining.

Such a touching story...May his gentle soul rest in peace. I can't begin to imagine all the wife faced.

We have insensitive leaders at the helm of affairs in this country. Will Sanwo Olu patronise Luth when he falls ill?We have a long way to go in this country.
