It makes sense since those geopolitical zones have had their turn and have only succeeded in rubbishing the economy. Otherwise why are we where we are? |

π€£ππππππ π€£π€£πππππ€£ Jokerssssssssssss So what is democratic in this bill now. One thing l know for sure in this Nigeria is IT WILL BE EASIER TO HAVE ANOTHER PRESIDENT FROM THE SOUTH SOUTH THAN THE SOUTH EAST. As long as Nigeria exist MAKE SOUTH EAST JUST FORGET PRESIDENT. Na wertin Dem no wan tell them be that. Numbers Dem no get Influence zero Noise 100% Abuse 100% Insult 100% Ranting 100% ARROGANCE 100% All these don't win elections. 3 Likes 1 Share |

yinkus6750: Ironically, this is what the bill seeks to achieve. Any one from any zone who seeks to rule Nigeria must do so by reaching out to other zones not by right. The only right aNyone or zone has is the right to contest. This proposal means any zone can insult and abuse other zones and become president by lawβ¦.thatβs not democracy. 6 Likes 1 Share |

GanagiBitrus: I prefer restructuring into Regional Govts. Rotating the presidency will guarantee that the next president will be another Tinubu or Buhari from another region. 1 Like |

casualobserver:Yes they can insult by saying "the baboons and dogs will be soaked in blood" and become president. They can insult others by saying "Yoruba lo kan. Emi lo kan" and become president. So much for hypocrisy |

The bill is a fair one. Many Countries operate under such laws and principles and are very peaceful and prosperous. The problem we have in Nigeria today is a growing culture of GREED. Even in individual lives and communities. Thankfully, there are some States who have operated under such principle at the State level and LGA level, but this is increasingly threatened by certain greedy politicians who even benefited from such setting in the first place. In Nigeria, there are 6 geopolitical zones; each zone has at least five States. In consideration of Presidential election, it is illogical and disingenuous to state or assume no qualified or suitable candidate exists in the whole region or zone to lead the Country. In addition to the fact that a president, no matter how qualified cannot lead the Country in isolation as the Legislative and Judicial arms of government would provide checks and balances, constitutional provisions would guide even the composition of the executives. So how would a region after waiting through the turns of 5 others, eventually present a set of unsuitable candidates? I can assure you, if such law was in place prior to 2015 and the NW had its turn, Buhari would most likely not have emerged. With such arrangement, we would have a more functional Legislative and Judiciary as only the most suitable would be elected to represent the people from various constituencies around the Country and there would be effective checks and balances between the arms of government. Such arrangement would eliminate ethnic politics and sentiments. We can see what happened in the last general elections. Once it is the turn of a zone, the best aspirants and candidates from any part of the zone would throw their hats in and it would be left for the electorates to decide. Imagine the last elections was contested between the likes of BAT, Osinbajo, Akinwunmi Adesina etc. At the end of the process, there would be no lingering sentiments as we see today and everyone would focus on nation building. What we have today is a padi-padi setup as only those who have secured places in power aim to rotate all arms of government amongst themselves indefinitely. This bill is a good one and has far-reaching effects, even in the direction of restructuring. |

ChiefOloye:This shows how benign some of u are when analyzing in public...gutter analysis. The sponsor of the bill is someone whose geopolitical zone is yet to produce a president since 1999. Must time u guys believe the country is divided into Yoruba, Ibo and Hausa. I think comments should be vented before being allowed into a public space. The reason people like me always seek for social media tegilation is because of people who reason through their anus |

if this bill succeeds, just know the north has won. This is a grand plan to stop Tinubu who's putting them in their places. Do you think they are happy for example, that the position of the Comptroller general of Customs,a position they held for decades,is gone?!! They don't have FIRS,COAs,IGP,etc.. If this bill scales through, the next president will definitely come form the north, the north east and trust me,it will be either Kingibe or Ahmed Lawan. The arewa forum will instruct and direct all northerners and their religious adherents in the middle belt and places like auchi to follow. As usual, the ever stppd ronus, who are already accusing the Igbos of this plot, will continue to attack the Igbos for just no sensible reason and thereby ruin south's chances totally and trust the north to capitalise. It's just so unfortunate that we have these abomination people in the south. |

Fareke:What Nigeria needs is an electoral process devoid of irregularities, manipulation and frauds. An election that is a true reflection of the people's wish. An election where rigging is near too impossible not an election where someone who could not win cosmopolitan Lagos went ahead to win Rivers of all. |

Coolsphinx:Mark it, it is highly impossible for the south west zone to have a major political say in a parliamentary system because they do not have that block voting population. There votes always divided on what their imams and g.o tells them. Also always divided by the affirnities. The presidential system which accommodates lots of dirts is a system that aligns with their jagba ideology. |

So if SW, SE, NC, NW, NE, SS have two idiots to contest we should vote for the lesser idiot right? I think limiting two geopolitical zones to contest, it will make them nominate the best candidate from their zone |
