Minister of Women Affairs, Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, has described the recent protest by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) against the rising cost of living was a mere distraction adding that it achieved no tangible result.

Speaking at a press conference in Abuja on Monday, Kennedy-Ohanenye said the country needs “constructive ways” to tackle its challenges.

“Now that NLC has gone out to protest, what have they done? It’s just a mere distraction of the federal government but the kind of action that you people (Integrity Brigade) will take, you will see the effect,” the minister said.

“It will be loud and clear, that is why I said there is no need for that. If you do things without the end result, what is it for?

“Let’s focus on constructive ways of solving our problems by coming out bold and clear with what we want.”

The minister disclosed that later this week, President Bola Tinubu would unveil “PBAT cares for Nigerian women”, a programme seeking to empower women in the country.

Kennedy-Ohanenye said she is establishing a body known as “Integrity Brigade” which would ensure that funds sourced by non-governmental organisations (NGOs) for women and children would be used for that purpose.

“The president has endorsed a mobile court to address violence – minor issues of violence against women and children,” the minister said.

“The most important is the Integrity Brigade which all of you are joining and most Nigerians will volunteer to come in.

“Our royal fathers and religious leaders across the country, both Muslims and Christians, are equally coming and joining the Integrity Brigade.

“The Integrity Brigade will ensure that any decision made concerning Nigeria must be the one to benefit Nigerians. Even if you are an NGO, if you want to write for support for Nigerians, you must bring support that will bring sustainable empowerment,” she added

Protest was hijacked by the State. And by people's fear of a repeat of ENDSARS violence.

What I sensed about NLC.
It's either they are being controlled by APC to always come out after any recent hardship discovery to come and bark like chihuahua that they ll protest or strike in order for people to believe they still have a NLC of old that can fight for people. It's obvious they are doing this for people not to reason that they are helpless and hopeless! Cos whenever NLC announce they are striking or doing protest, they call it off with 3 days. It's as if APC govt is so good that they v no reason to go against their hardships.

The second angle is NLC being controlled by oppositions. Joe Ajaero or Joe Agbero is appearing like a purchased entity. Either being purchased via fear or money!

Whichever way, Nigerians are in a terrible state! Help is far from reach!

In other words, this government is setting up another body (Integrity Brigade) among us which will be used to counter future protests by NLC or any body.

Nigeria Government and her politicians too like DIVIDIE AND RULE !!

And a day will come, when eventually this country will SURELY divide. My only prayer is that my generation should witness it,but I doubt it.

Blessings !

See the kind of rubbish that woman was saying . You want NLC to further ground the economy.

These are saboteurs in this government who can not manage the crisis in the land

She talks without using her senses .

Meanwhile NLC leaders presently are full of mature and intellectual people not mediocre . They know when to act and retreat.

After threatening and coercing the NLC leaders into submission, the minister is happy that the protests didn't succeed.

At d hight of tension, NLC will come out, hijack peoples protest and return back to their shell. They are working for APC while Nigerians suffers and our politicians loot in a reckless abandon.

What most African leaders don't know is that you will never see it coming. Ask Sankara, Murtala, Gowon, Doe , Nkrumah, etc. Once the people are tired of you....... U may think u are untouchable with all your bodyguards,DSS,police etc but the very shocking day of your life might be your last.
