There is nothing so special here until we are privy to the Memorandum of Understanding between Abia State Government & Cranburg Construction. That is the document that will list all the roads to be constructed with the money. There is no law forbidding a private organization, such as Cranburg to approach its bankers for facility to execute a contract. If Access Bank finds her customer, Cranburg Construction credit worthy, then public opinion holds no sway

Aside the conflict of interests ,ethics violation, and not following the proper bidding process/award of contracts, under Alex Otti's leadership, a tiny economy state like Abia would accumulate an astounding debt of half a trillion naira or more (we don't know others as yet probably) within only one year.

Summary of the post for those too lazy to read 👇

A document reveals that Craneburg Construction, owned by Mrs. Chizoba Doreen Wigwe, received a N50 billion loan from Access Bank to finance contracts awarded by Abia State government, raising concerns about lack of official bidding and approval process. State officials declined to comment.

Wigwe's wife doesn't own Craneburg but rather one of the owners. Many politicians including those in power own it with them.

this should not be news but in Nigeria, as long as a person is rich, no one cares to ask questions. the internet has been abuzz with people celebrating this man as a hero. they say he was building the best university in Nigeria. where did he get the money from? when you ask questions, they will say "stop hating".

Don't see what is wrong with the loan.
It's not as if it's free and there is a express proviso that it can only be disbursed on authorisation by the ABSG.
Some today billionaires with no family connection to bank owners have been given loans on far more favorable terms that this one granted to Wigwe's wife.
Ok,just saw that one of the worrying issues is that there was no specification of the exact roads to be constructed and their contract sums.

I am trying to wrap my head round this. A business took a loan from a bank to facilitate a contract it has been awarded.
Is this not a credit facility? This doesn't seem like news, is it because the CEOs of both organizations are related?

A business is an entity, seperate from the owners. News reporting is cut and join over here, just creating sensationalism.

Don't mind them. Expect some more so-called "salacious" stories around this. People are still bitter that Wigwe did a takeover of Intercontinental Bank

Heard that Tony Elumelu got forty billion naira from UBA and it has turned to bad debt..Very soon, the bank will write it off while Tony is balling.
Fraud in the banking industry is just too much.

Tony owns UBA right ?

Aside that, the state of assembly wasn't aware as well.

Meanwhile, some residents of Abia State have condemned the borrowing, insisting that the contract didn't go through the official bidding and approval process.

A source privy to happenings in the state government said it was not approved by the state House of Assembly.

Na man know man dem take am do.

Otti was MD of Diamond bank which merged into Access bank. Same way Obi deposited state funds in companies he owned. As we speak there is a big roof roof fight on twitter between Obidient influencers who allegedly shared money and bought property from campaign funds and how a Gubernatorial candidate in an upcoming election shared dollars.

Tomorrow they will claim to be change agents.

So, what's the news here

The wife has a reputable company, won contract and was financed by Access Bank..

I can't see where this news is saying the company is not solid enough to pay back the loans or the loans were given without due diligence.

So, because her husband is Access Bank whatever...she can't look for loans from them or what exactly
Check the ops past posts to know who he is and his evil intentions.....

There is no issue here.

If Craneburg has delivered the project, then Abia state government should pay up. And Craneburg will fulfil their obligations to a Access Bank in turn.

The facility was given to the corporate entity- Craneburg and not Chizoba Wigwe.

What is the concern of the government and governor of Abia state in the matter? Government is in the business of awarding contracts to bring developments to societies. It is the standard practice worldwide. Or do they expect Otti to execute the contracts with his barehands?

It is not stated anywhere that the governor/government paid any amount upfront.

It is not reported anywhere that there was a kickback.

It is not reported that the woman’s company stole the money to finance the projects.
There is no default reported even after the demise of Wigwe and his wife.
If she used her influence with her husband to secure the loan, we have not read that there was no collateral in any form.

They should just let the family have some space and grieve their loss peacefully.
