QuinQ: Give proper compensation to people who constructed illegal structures on land not acquired by them legally? How? Who does so? If you start that practice, isn’t it an encouragement to everybody to go and grab some land so where illegally, knowing government will pay you sizeable money before evicting you. After that, you simply move on to another and then another. Isn’t that what you’re advocating? 6 Likes 2 Shares |

That is the problem... when villages communities LGA areas in Nigeria are not developed and they are in a deteriorable and bad shape... then rural urban migration will increase ..that is why Lagos and other major cities in Nigeria are overpopulated |

Sucre6: This is impossible bro. Where in Lekki are you expecting government to build the low cost houses? The problem is really not cost, it's more about proximity. A man works in Lekki, Ikoyi or VI as a driver, Gardner, security man or the likes. He may be able to afford a N400k self contain around Lakuwe, Bogije or Eleko axis, but that 400k can't get him anything meaningful. Coming from the Lakuwe axis everyday is a No No so he opts for something around to lay his head, many of those people have houses at Ikorodu, where they spend the weekend... So the problem really is not that they can't afford houses, but what is available for their class is too far from their place of work. So you see the low cost houses would not work. How much will it cost to build them? Ofcourse government won't rent them out, they would be sold, but to who, can the man on N150k salary buy?. The sad reality is that till the world ends, they will be people on the streets 2 Likes |

Exousiang01: Impossibility becomes a watch word when innovation and invention is neglected Low cost housing is linked directly to poorest of the poor in suburbs and the deduction is been done by removing stipends from the beneficiary account pending when you finished payment which could be 10- 20 years., it's made that flexible Low cost houses isn't built in the heart of the city, it is built in the suburbs and it should be a smart city where everything you needed is in it, including felling stations, hospitals, schools, recreational centers, mini stadium where all manner of sports is played and space provided for among others, plus key government facilities should be moved to surbubs, finally, a speed train should have a station linking this smart cities to the city center where u can get to anywhere u are headed to ones you have gotten to town and it takes few minutes in the train to the town, this is what the western world has done and it working for them, so why can't we take a cue, I have been to morroco, I have been to Uganda, have also been to Egypt, I have seen with my own eyes how these things are done, and life is easy for them in that terms, even at that, their minimum wage is still way ahead of our own, the supposed giant of Africa with empty brains 😏 |

Yet, some !d!ots from such illegal rot would always be the one to call Lagos dirty and smelly when they're the main contributors. Lagos state should continue clearing all the mess UNTIL THEY'RE NO MORE. No room for illegal encroachment in Lagos state: if you can't afford a decent block away from law-forbidden zones, other state offer cheaper house rents, exploit the opportunities. @Sucre6 THE problem is these people don't want to move to the suburb. IKORODU like BADAGRY are suburb of Lagos metropolis and have close to everything you said in them (from mini-stadium to BRT system to jetty/ferry terminals to large electricity penetration, vast networks of roads, tertiary hospitals like GENERAL HOSPITAL as well as primary and secondary health centres including MCC, schools, recreation facilities both government and private-owned, hospitality facilities etc,)and houses are very cheap there in consideration with places on the ISLAND and its neighbouring MAINLAND LGAs like SURULERE, YABA, FESTAC, MILE2 and APAPA. But trust these people to always tell you those suburbs (including AGBADO, IGANDO etc,)are too far away, that TFare will drain your income or that they already got house there but can't be going home everyday because of stress. Even with BRT system that connects them to the suburbs, they still find excuse. |
