Soldiers’ Killing: Okuama Community Leader Accuses Nigerian Army Of Mass Killing by Kosiso12(f): 7:22am On Mar 19
A community leader in Okuama community in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State where military personnel were killed, has accused the Nigerian Army of mass killings in the area.

The community leader, who spoke to Punch on the condition of anonymity because of fear of harassment, warned that the soldiers’ actions could lead to a repeat of the Odi incident.

In 1999, the Army attacked Odi town in Bayelsa State after some soldiers were killed in the community.

Accusing the military, the community leader alleged that soldiers had begun targeting innocent civilians in the community rather than going after the miscreants who committed the crime.

He said, “If it involves mass arrest, nobody will complain about it, but mass killings are currently ongoing in the community. A situation where soldiers will enter a community and open fire is a terrible thing.

“The same thing that happened in Odi is happening in Okuama today. When people take laws into their own hands because of the mischief of a few, it becomes a problem. When miscreants go to an area and cause mayhem, and the military is taking that to wipe out an entire community, that is a bad omen.”

Also, there were reports on Monday that soldiers deployed in Okuama resorted to burning houses as residents fled the community.

Irate youths killed at least 17 military personnel during a communal clash over a land dispute in Bomadi and Okuoma communities in Delta State on Thursday.

The personnel attached to the 181 Amphibious Battalion were responding to a distress call when they were ambushed and killed on Thursday.

Many residents of Okuama in the Ughelli South Local Government Area and Okolaba in the Bomadi Local Government Area of Delta State fled the communities on Friday, as soldiers took over the area and reportedly set some houses ablaze in reaction to the killing of 16 soldiers, including senior officers.

The Nigerian army should be more concered about the hardened minds that carried out the vicious act against their members than attacking defenceless innocent civilians.

Ibo people, the emergency lovers of Nigeria, rest.

So the emergency lovers of Nigeria are the ones speaking against the injustice of Nigerians and you are supporting the injustice as what?

Have you ever in your life produced a thief in your area for the police?

I see most people supporting this injustice from the army are mainly from a particular region of Nigeria, somehow I feel they were the major cause of the civil war and the genocide that happened in it, sometimes time reveals things even when propaganda and lie is deployed to cover the truth....

History repeating itself in a bad way again. It was odi community under obasanjo and now this under Tinubu.

The amount of bloodshed happening in Nigeria especially the innocent ones, is so much. We are in big trouble in this country o. Too many bloodshed just forget for now, this country won't get any better with this crop of leaders who don't value human lives, the citizens too are not any different. Everyone is just moving mad.

As a Christian if you like keep wasting your time praying for Nigeria and our leaders.
Read your Bible to know what happens in a country where wicked people rule.

Sigh... Nothing new.

Just a repeat of history.

For every soldier killed in the South, at least 2 heads will roll! Doesn't matter whether they are culprits or innocent, scores must be settled.

That's why communities and towns must make efforts to sanitize themselves of lowlifes and terrorists, as well as their sympathizers.

Nigerian army will never bother with thorough investigations and fact-finding... Theirs is to kill and maim those within the location and surroundings.

Only a very formidable armed group can cause the death of 15 military personnel.
Who are this Group?
Who are their members?
What is their motive for the killings?
What is their Goal?
These & others are what NA need to 1st profile before carrying out attacks, instead of angrily going to burn down villages & kill any young person in the vicinity of the community. That's very unprofessional.

I won't be surprised if somehow the propaganda department of the igbo hatting groups in Nigeria will look for a way to drag and possibly blame ipob for the killing of the military officers.

Irate youths killed at least 17 military personnel during a communal clash over a land dispute in Bomadi and Okuoma communities in Delta State on Thursday.
.

I can see the Nigerian government has already started to form a narrative against the people they want to kill.

From militants to irate youths...all engineered to create a narrative in favor of what they want to unleash on the community.

They are angry that people rose up to pressure them to go for the actual criminals. It wasn't business as usual. So they now want to paint the entire community as guilty.

People of the South south, the onus lies on you to resist this attempt at giving the dog a bad name in order to hang it.

Before you know it, the narrative will change to people of the community gathered and lynched the soldiers. Na small small.

If.you can recall what happened in Odi and Zaki -biam or not, you will remember what caused Israel and Palestinian ongoing battle.

So as a sensible leader no nation will watch it's agent including Nafdac etc, being slaughtered in the line of action.
Not even with the spirit of solidarity in the army and Nigerian forces.

My advice is support the army to fish out the culprit, and let others rest, while the culprits face the law.

Why didn't the said leader point out the criminals among his own people that ambushed and killed the soldiers.

If he as a leader in Okuoma is claiming that he doesn't know them, how does he expect the Army that are strangers to know who to go after? The Army are reacting to the killing of their fellow officers. You should expect bombardment and commando style invasion.

This wouldn't happen if they as leaders had arrested the criminals among themselves who committed the crime and handed them over to the government within the week before the government reacted.

Why only in South that west president always derive joy in killing? If not East, then South South. How many time have we recorded countless killing of military personnel in the Northern part , was a community wipe out?
Thank God that the next president of South is either East or South South.

Very nuisance people, just because of some set of peoples sin, you want to wipe out a whole community, that has even been in existence before you were born...

Some soldiers that are from the community which their families are there, do you think they will be happy that their parent are being wiped out?

It is only in Nigeria that they don't think before they act...
