It's only Lagos State that can start this kind of rail system in Nigeria.

Japan and Germany are the two countries
So, we should replicate the achievements of first world nations. With which budget and which maintenance culture?

Let's assume it naturally costs 1billion naira to construct start to finish.
The politicians in charge will earmark 10billion for the project and give the middlemen 3billion, while they pocket 7billion.
The middle men will pocket 2billion and give the construction company 1billion.
Now the various traditional rulers and omoniles of the communities through which the rail will pass will come and collect like 300million from the construction company.
Now the construction company will have no choice than to remove their own profit of about 500million from the balance, leaving about 200million naira to construct a 1billion naira project.

Ask me again why it will not fall down grin

I completely agree with you. Containers on trucks are still falling due to bad roads and crushing kekes, okadas and other vehicles around it, elevators malfunction and cause casualties, buildings collapse and trap people.

That rail system wouldn’t work in Nigeria in the next 50 years. The generation of Akpabios, Wikes, Rochas, Tinubus won’t allow such development to see the light of the day.

There are so many evil people in Nigeria

It's not fear that it will not work that will make people not want to board it but fear of the lack of integrity of those that built it

The upside-down or suspension railway

It's an elevated monorail, wherein the vehicle is suspended from a fixed track, constructed right above waterways or roads. The train dangles beneath a track and carries loads or people. Construction of this monorail started back in 1898, and the train started functioning in 1901

Japan and Germany are the two countries with such railways.

Lawmaker scores Lagos Water Corporation low

A Lagos State lawmaker, Mr Saka Fafunmi, on Thursday expressed dissatisfaction at the performance of the state Water Corporation.

Fafunmi, a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly (LAHA), said in Ikeja that the corporation had not been able to justify statutory allocations to it.

The lawmaker, who represents Ifako-Ijaiye Constituency 1 at the assembly, spoke to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

He said that the corporation had the capacity to generate much fund internally through water rates but had relied solely on government funding because of poor performance.

'' Anyone that is using water will be willing to pay for it; the corporation has not been giving us water.

"Is there any new community that Water Corporation has given water? People depend on boreholes; even government estates have industrial boreholes.

"Why do we keep pumping money into an agency that does not give us the desired results?'' he asked.

He noted that the Adiyan Waterworks was located at Ifako-Ijaiye, where many of the residents had resorted to digging boreholes as a means of getting water.

''A lot of people are falling sick because they don't drink clean water.

''In the same compound, where you have sewage, is where you have a borehole.

''There is no way you can manage the sewage that it will not leak and pollute the water; everyone drinking such is drinking contaminated water,'' he said.

The lawmaker urged the corporation to increase water reticulation and supply to residents.

The first question is how many Nigerians can pay for it

Have you checked the price for the train ride?

Or u want it to be built and used for free?

When the government has not been able to provide food. grin

You don't know those trains run on electric power. How is the power supply in your area.? cheesy

Chibuike Amaechi started it in Rivers State and Nyesome Wike used bad politics to kill it!

If not for Wike's fuulishness, Port Harcourt monorail would have making money for the state and also become a unique tourist attraction for Nigerians and Africans who haven't seen a monorail before.

Interestingly enough, by 2013, that project was already nearing completion!

There are so many factors limiting Nigeria's potential and the top of it is corruption, second of it is extreme poverty, even the standard Guage from Lagos to Ibadan has not really being getting the traction it needs

Now imagine we decide to waste money to build this, maybe Dem go say na 2. Something trillion na him finish am, and na only 100 persons it would be conveying due to high cost of boarding it

So for our case it is useless for now, let's work on poverty alleviation first then corruption before all these sort of infrastructures
