Point of corrections, he's been president since 1986. He took over the reign of Power from President Milton Obote in a guerilla warfare with the backing of late Chief MKO Abiola. I recall he was the first visitor to the Uganda after the take over and Concord Airlines, owned by Abiola became passenger airline in Uganda.

People who say those things are either not genuine to their thought or are shallow thinkers. They are the ones who will blame every consequences of the bad actions of African leaders on slavery and the West.
